which one is better?, i work at best buy so i can get the 12 inch alpine type r for cheaper, but is the 12 inch jlw3v2 a better sub?? which one has better SQ and which is louder?

^x2 True that. Since I'm not a big fan of alpine, I'd say JL first.

I've owned older Type R's and have also owned 12w3v2's, I personally liked the output of the JL's better

I'm not a fan of the Type-R but I would say that I would purchase one over a JL W3v2. But I would take a Diamond D3 over both, I've cut D3's and W3v2's apart and the build quality of the Diamond is much better. Also IMO the SQ of the Diamond is better then the JL as well as the Alpine. Deffinitely a W6v2 over a W3v2 if you go with JL.

Yep I say the new r is better than the jlw3. The w6v2 is a good sub, but very expensive. If you are on a budget I would get the R's. Can sound very good in right application.
