Type R...disappointed?

i noticed when i had my old Type-E all i did was pull the sub (facing backward in the trunk) all the way to the end of the trunk and once the trunk was shut, it was 10x louder! noise cancellation, my car is an intrepid (similar in size to the grand am) and it seems to hit a nasty cancellation at the back of the trunk...try pulling the box up

Pics and vids will be up shorly--within an hour

im assuming the installers wired it at 4 ohm. they cannot wire it any higher because that amp is not 1 ohm stable. but then again, that amp is rated 1400 @ 4 ohms.
The amp is 1 ohm stable. I am not sure how they wired it, I can call em up monday and ask though. The directed site and the manual only gives 400w rms @ 4 ohms. 1200rms @ 1 ohm.

...is the box sealed or is there air leaking?
I noticed something that could be a slight problem. There is not a termianl cp or whatever you want to call it on the box. There is a small hole in the back with wires running through it. = bad?

Videos are not of the best quality, sorry. After listening to it today, it didn't seem all that bad. Not sure what the difference was, but whatever. This sub does get pretty loud, but I just have the feeling that it has a bit left in it.

One possibility though. I still have stock speakers hooked up. The speakers start to distort around volume 20. So does the sub still have some push left in it, and I just need some new speakers?

um, not enough power?

Directed Makes two 2400 models, the 2400 and the 2400D.

The 2400D puts out 1400 @ 4 ohms, 2400 @ 2 ohms.

The 2400 puts out 125 x 2 @ 4 ohms, 200 x 2 @ 2 ohms.

Im guessing you have the regular 2400

Hey guys. I got my new car and threw in my new system.
15" Type R, Dual 2

Custom box. 2.9 cu. ft. @ 36hz

Directed 2400 amp

Alpine 9881 Deck

4guage wiring

I got this professionally installed at a place that does do some great work.

I got my car and...I'm just not all that impressed with it. It does not seem like that big of a step up from 2 10" type e's, in a ported prefab box.

I am not sure why this is. I have a good amount of power running to it, in a pretty nice box. The only thing I can think of is the port length is pretty...sad. Port diameter is about 1-2 wide. Could this be the problem?

PICS AND VIDS NOW UP---PAGE 2

Thanks

Tune lower, homie. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Which clearly isnt the same thing as the 2400D which they are appear to no longer make.
Only information I could find on the 2400D
I have the same amp he does, at 4ohms it does 400w @ 14.4VDC, so tell me...400w RMS for a 15" type-R is not underpowered //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
