I've searched the threads and can't find a good box for spl. HELP!!!!! what size box and tuned to what will get loud? and could it be played daily? sub is a 12

have you looked at that type r thread? its LLLLLOOOOOONNNNGGGG. And when i saw someone say a 3.5 box tuned to 34 i thought i might just need to ask

No it wasnt you just brought up alot of memories of people almost getting into fist because of this sub.

i just switched my type R from a 1.3^3, 30hz box to a 2.0^3, 34hz box and i like it alot better. i would probably go down to 32 hz if i had to do it again though. but if youre just looking for SPL, 2.0 @ 35 hz wont be dissapointing.

i just had one in 2.3 @ 35 but i didnt have any where near enough power. now that i got more power i just want something i can listen to and burp. if that's possible.

i thought 2.25 @ 35hz was a decent all around box for my type R. 1 12 sounded decent daily, and did 140 dbs on the dash playing music. you can get the numbers up by tuning higher, but will sacrifice any sound quality the type R was able to produce, which isn't stellar to start with.

In a Grand Am a car i setup hit a 144.4 and counting(550rms each, 2 12's). The box was 5 cubic ft @ 42hz, 87sq in. of port. It didnt sound all that bad either. If you tryed 2.5 @ 42 hz. Resined the inside and rounded the port you would be all good. Pm me if you want me to design you one. Ill do it for free.
