Type R 12 vs. 2 Type S 12

really? cause i like the r allright, but my friend's kenwoods blow me out, and its not quite as loud as I would like it...

also, ive heard some guy's type s's (not sure what amp he has) and his is very loud. loud enough to hear him coming from atleast 50 ft. away

Type R is better than the Type S's by far. The output won't be any better, and likely won't be any cleaner though. The gain from two subs is ~3db, and the gain from doubling the power is ~3db. You'd be halving the power to each sub, and then having twice the cone area. But... That sealed box will bring you down then.

I'd say if you want bigger... Get a bigger amp, and get two type r's.

add another R and another amp and youll blow them both out the water. i had 2 type Rs on a hifonics 2008d and it was pretty loud in a nice ported box .

X2

I had 2 type r's and a kicker 1500.1 and it did high 146's. Type r's would definitely be better. u can find em used from $75 to $100 dollars. then beef up your amp. You'll be much happier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, the installation process was kind of weird. i was going to pay a local shop to build the box and hook it up, but they were taking forever and literally didnt know what they were doing (the install guy was going to wire my DVC 2ohm sub to 2 ohms supposedly). so i paid for the box and got my install money back, and then wired it with the help of a friend. maybe i did something wrong (i think i did it right, though) or maybe the box is a little off. i have it on an orion d1200, rated at 600w at 1 ohm. its decently loud, but like i said, not nearly as loud as the kenwoods ( theyre running of a monoblock kenwood amp, 500 rms @ 2 ohms, in a bestbuy prefab sealed box)

you can easily throw more power at that r alone. i was giving 600 to a 10 and it wanted more, with the 12 you could safely go 800 and beat the hell out of it.
