Why do you need to recone your 9500s? I sure dont, not even luke warm after 30 minutes heavy full tilt. There are a few guys local running a M2 to a single 3500, its fine. There are guys local running M4a to a single 9500, 2 M3s to a single 9500. MANY M4as to a pair of 9500s and MANY M4s to a pair of 3500s. Mine dont even reach full xmax playing 7hz under tuning
Funny how mine do. And they are not in a small box. And it's not tuned high. Sooooo I don't know what you did. No 3 inch can handle it is BS unless you are referring to holding a tone full tilt for a long time.Mine need to be reconed because the surrounds tore to shreds. They held up great for a long time. My box is tuned to 30, and that is what my ssf is set at. The subs are reaching are at or near their mechanical limits on that power. I also know plenty of people who have run much more power to the 9500s, but they were tuned much higher, and had much smaller boxes. Thermally speaking, no 3" coil sub is going to handle much more than 2500-3000 watts clamped for extended periods of time. Burps and short demos are another story, but most people in car audio don't play their systems for 30 seconds at a time.
I don't doubt yours are holding up fine. I bought mine used (and most likely abused), however the surrounds were in good shape when I got them. As far as thermal limits, this is directly from PSI:Funny how mine do. And they are not in a small box. And it's not tuned high. Sooooo I don't know what you did. Clamp your **** and post up a vid....Funny how mine do. And they are not in a small box. And it's not tuned high. Sooooo I don't know what you did. No 3 inch can handle it is BS unless you are referring to holding a tone full tilt for a long time.
AQ/DD's normally shine in larger enclosures with more port area cuz the suspension is so **** stiff. So what are we comparing? If anything we can compare AQ to AB. Both are nothing like DD, Subs or Amps, and surely not speakers. IMO the HDC4 is a waste unless you are going to put some power to them. Even then it seems to be a very inefficent design. Just to much moving mass to be loud of low power. Where as the DD is a very efficent sub that CAN take power, not that it has to. Look at the box size they can utilize taking power, must me some magic glue holding them together.
I'm wired low, hold 14v plus, and beat on them with bass heavy music 4-5 songs in a row daily. They are getting power, never once have I smelled coil and they are only a few feet behind me. I havenbt clamped this box but the last one I did. The last one was making 4600 at 40hz, this one is wired lower, higher voltage, more amperage, and louder. If they are not getting it now they will be when the M4a goes in.Clamp your **** and post up a vid....
My old XLs when more stiff and couldnt handle a large enclosure. DD handles it because of the magic glue I guess.AQ/DD's normally shine in larger enclosures with more port area cuz the suspension is so **** stiff.
I've built more AQ/DD boxes then I care to remember. I've also used AQ soft parts with DD coils and a few other combos when doing some testing for DJ & Jassa a few years ago.
A little birdie even told me the HDC4 was louder then the SC 9500.....
Bc they r scared to run hdc4s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifMy old XLs when more stiff and couldnt handle a large enclosure. DD handles it because of the magic glue I guess. You proved how much you really know by mentioning the SC 9500. SC is not meant to be louder, its meant to lower distortion. In some cases there has been minimul increases on the meter. I wonder why the loudest trunk care runs 9500s.
People were gaining on the meter with the SC option, who cares about distortion when you play **** rap music. My old XLs when more stiff and couldnt handle a large enclosure. Last I looked Terry Brocks still had the loudest true trunk.People were gaining on the meter with the SC option, who cares about distortion when you play **** rap music.
Loudest trunk car doesn't run DD...
Report back when you get that M4A hooked up. I run 2 AQ3500's @ 1ohm each on my HDC4. Do I think the sub can take 7kw daily, not a fuggin chance. Thanks to rise I can play a few songs in a row full tilt, but that's about it...
