Two DD 3512 or two sound qubed HDC-412 there the same price

Well the hdc4 s are alot more sub for.the money but a aq2200 isnt enough for even 1 hdc4 so the dd3512s would be louder on that power but also that amp really isnt enough for the dds either ....ive ran dd3512s on a aq3500.1 daily ..and run the aq3500;1 on 2 hdc4 12s now and plan on addig another 3500 soon

Off that amp copper coil HDC3's would be the obvious choice. But if you are for sure getting another 2200 down the road then get the HDC4's....

I would also build the enclosure on the large size for those subs since you are kinda low on power.

You should expand into other brands as well... DD is rather expensive.
If you have a good dealer DD cost the same as everybody else.

Op if you plan on buying new and want a lot of low end impact go 3500. The new suspension on the 35 and 95 is made for it. If you want a fart box go AQ

I don't have any DD dealers around here now that Buck's shop no longer carries it and the MSRP on them is ridiculous.

I've never heard anything bad from DD though, price aside. I'd put them on par with Incriminator, AA, Sundown, etc.

In that choice the hdc4 would win out every time.
How does a less efficient 4" coil win in every situation? If they were going to be fed more power than the DDs could reasonably handle, I would understand, but they're going to be on 2200 watts - perfect for the DDs but under powering the huge HDC4 by a lot.

DD's are decently efficient but at the same time why over drive the subs? The 3500's on a daily 2200 would be fine, but once he added the second he would be over driving them by a long shot. Perhaps a few members will chime in saying that DD's will handle the world, but the reality is what it is. When I was employed there we torturer tested several drivers to various extents. The limits of the 3500 series is far less then the HDC4.

So the real question is why hug DD when they are an inferior speaker for this exact setup? Also, while you attempted to place words in my mouth saying they would win in every situation that is not true. When in this topic/debate the HDC4 is a far better option.

Not trying to be rude, but the idea that DD subs magically take a ton of power is just not true. Thus the reasoning for my statement. With 2 2200's the HDC4 is a better option..and likely cheaper.

I thought you meant "in that choice" as in between the HDC4 and the DD, just a small misunderstanding. Also, for this "exact setup" (one SQ2200) I believe the DDs would be superior - perhaps not in the long run if he added a second amp. But then he runs into the problem of bridging the amps at 1 ohm - which gives a load of 0.5 ohm to each amp and would be highly taxing on his electrical system. I would want to get subs with a different voice coil configuration from what he needs now and shoot for a final load of 2 ohms bridged if it was a daily driver - maybe even upgrade to a SQ3500 or similar instead of buying a second amp - but that's just me.

If it were my vehicle, I would choose neither and upgrade subs when the larger amp came. There isn't really one sub that will perform better in both scenarios from what he gave as options. Something a bit beefier than the DD without moving up to a less efficient 4" coil might be ideal for both, though

If only amps could be strapped at 2 ohms...

Oh how much easier life would be....oh wait
