It's been a minute, and things continue to evolve.
The install is now walled with a solid increase in dB (not sure exactly yet what the official is since I haven't had it metered again since installation) but it feels like a solid 2-3dB increase.
Polished up the install overall, including a new bass controller that I designed from the ground up in CAD and 3D printed on a new Bambu X1-Carbon. Pot is an ALPS RK27 50k and feels very nice, and outputs a much cleaner signal than my previous build. There is USB Audio integration for the head unit, because having it poking out of the dash was problematic with all of the bass... it would shake the USB drive so badly it would become disconnected, so I moved it into the controller itself. You will spot the USB drive in the last image on the connection side of the controller housing.
