Trouble setting 1501d gain

I've got a MTX 1501D wired at 2ohms. so on my multimeter i should be reading 44.72v (2ohms x 1000W@2ohm=2000 ----> sqrt 2000 = 44.72)

Well heres the problem. If i turn loud off, the eq off, bass to 0, and the sub preout to one above ATT then I only read 19.8V at the highest volume I will be listening at. If i turn loud back on and the eq to a custom setting that i normally use then i can get the V up to the required level. Should i just set it with the loud and eq on?

first find out where your head unit clips, put a 50 hz tone at 0 db put your amp gain on minimum and turn your head unit up till the tone clips, you will be able to tell, it's easy, like my Pioneer head unit clips on volume 25 so i back it down to 24 so there's no amplified distortion in the signal, then i put a 50 hz test tone 0db then raise the gain till i how many watts i want amp puts out 150 rms at 4 ohms so i raise it to 24.5 volts then now i know not to go over volume 24 or i'll get clipping, the sound is great and the amp is more accurate i noticed instead of havin it on the SUPERBASS eq cuz i found out i was clipping badly, i have it and set it on FLAT (settings in the middle Lows 0 Mids 0 Highs 0), hope this helps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i have the same amp.. and only 2v preouts. I can still get my voltage correct, so i'm not sure what the deal is... turn your sub-out all the way up as suggested or close to it... that will allow you to set your gain right... (if i was you, i would turn the compression circuit on and just turn the gain all the way... that ensures that you'll never clip)
