transmission line box

looking for info and experience with t-line boxes......considering building some to play with. i'm sure calculating is a bear. soo....... small driver(s) vs large drivers. smaller vs larger vehicles. efficiencies, tuning, etc....

A TL is going to be the least efficient of any box type...but the sound/response is supposed to be good. Never messed with them though.

I am a believer now. A guy I work with is a big home audio guy and listened to some of the stuff in his sound room. He has two T lines with I think 5" woofers in them. They do not sound like a 5" woofer at all. Im not gonna say they sound like a 15", but they are loud and go low. Mind you they are playing in a garage he converted to a sound room. It they could do that in a room, I only imagine what they would do in a car. The only downfall is the boxes for both are very tall/big. They are more "musical" sounding so I can see how some car audio guys may not like the sound, but they do hit on passages.

^^^ its a lot easier to make a house/garage sound good than it is to do the same in a car.

hmm, I always had the idea that they would make a sub louder over a regular box

Its very hard to get anything more efficient than a proper bass-reflex design without at least doubling in size.

As always.. you can generally get two of three things.. size, efficiency, and extension.. Pick two and compromise on the third.
