Need to know what dimensions to use to attain 3.0 Cu FT w/ this general design.

I'd go with a bigger box anyways, like 3.5-3.75ft^3. 2.9ft^3 is pretty small for a pair of 12's, especially since that 2.9ft^3 isn't taking into account sub displacement. So really you're looking at ~2.75ft^3 after sub displacement...just too small.

Well, I'm trying to shoot for a box tuned to 34(33 close enough?). Dual slot port chamber and whatever size that would be best.

Thanks RAM.

Just ordered an AP15001D from amazon. Hoping it will be here within a few days of the subs, but honestly won't throw a hissy fit if it doesn't. Now I need wire. hopefully someone on here doesn't want too much for a few sections of 0 gauge (hopefully enough to do big 3, and run power cable for amp to trunk.)

So, I just thought about something, I don't want to port towards the rear of my car if I'm tapping my 6x9s out to let more air through.(As even with sealed this made a diff with my p.o.s. Boss subs, popped only 1 6x9 out and it was letting more sound through.)

I just got the bright Idea of putting the port basically right under each hole for the 6x9 as this would be my basic equivalent of dropping down a center arm rest/trunk door behind the seat. I would be hearing more, the back seat wouldnt be deferring much sound, and I will be this much more happy.

Hmm, more hunting to do :/

I don't know what kind of space constraints you have, but 36.75"Wx14.5"Hx17"D with two 1.5" ports would get you there. Port that runs against the back wall should be 9.5" long. I figured .1 ft^3 for displacement of each sub.

After looking at that image some more, the actual volume is 3.15 ft^3. So if you have the space for it, there will be virtually no audible difference between the two assuming he calculated port length correctly.

one thing to think about...... on a vented/ported enclosure, one of the principals is how the 2 waves meet and overlap within it's range. what i know of working well dumping the sound right through the rear is a band-pass 6th order with the ports in the rear deck. that pretty much bypasses the trunk as a sound chamber/element. i just wonder if shorting the ports strait to the cab will have any effect on efficiency, or weather it would be better to fire the subs up as well....... it may work out just fine, though, regardless of sub placement
