toyota stereo problem

I have a friend who has a 91 Toyota minivan and there is something wrong with the stock stereo. It turns on, and everything functions but there is no sound. And when you change channels it makes this really loud beeping noise. Anyone know what the problem might be?

The fact that it is a '91 Toyota minivan, most likely with stock head unit, stock speakers, etc. is the problem.

im going with him..

the stick stuff is the problem its gotta go bad at some point 16 years of use is good.. now its time to upgrade..

fuse blowout?

im with upgrading, look around online, it can be done for pretty cheap
