Alright guys I just got a brand new 12" Kicker L7 Sub with a ported box from my mom for a b-day present. Well now I need a amp. What amp would be best suited for pushing this sub and maby another later on when I get some more money...The only problem is I want a decently cheap amp like under 300 dollers. And after I get the amp what would I have to get after that...I know A deck but thats about it. Thanks guys:fro:

You're probably gunna need a power wire kit, some rca's if they don't come with the kit, somebody to install it (if necessary). As far as amps go, I'd look for some that is around 2000 rms

2krms??? are you serious? for a new person to audio playing with 2krms on a single l7 = bad idea. I wouldl look for an amp that does 600-maybe 1k rms

But he wants an amp big enuogh to power 2 when he gets some extra change.

you could probably find an kx1200 for around 300. That would be a good match and wont push the subs to their limits.

edit: heres one FS nowhttp://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236452

ok, first off...DO NOT GET A 2000 WATT RMS AMP!!!!

The rms wattage on the L7 is only 750 watts, you would blow it by putting that much wattage to it.

now, I need to know, are the voice coils on the L7 4ohm or 2ohm?

this will help in choosing the correct wiring configuration and the correct amp.

k i didnt see the "maybe another later" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif lol ya even then though a new person to audio should get a feel for it all. i know most of the newer people will crank the gain and blow the woofer in no time.

True, but to the OP keep the gains low or wire to a difference impeadance until you know hot to propery set gaind with a multimeter.

whoops didn't notice that you wanted to maybe add another one later, so yeah a 1500 watt amp would be good. but then, and please correct me if I am wrong people, wouldn't he need a 2 channel amp? NOT because of wanting 2 subs, but because a mono 1500 watt amp, will only put out 1500 watts which would be too much for one L7. so he would need an amp that will put out 750watts x2channels. that way he can hook one L7 up to one channel and leave the other channel open until he can get the other sub
