I dont see the time alignment plus, because i use 0 time alignment on my tweeters.

Now im a big baller with 4 way active, as we all know different speakers, installations and locations will yield a different crossover and slope. Being able to fine the one that works best for my installation is awesome.

Yes it does make my speaker sound better after selecting the CORRECT points and slopes. I start by trying different points with different slopes until i find something that sounds the best. After extensive testing I switch to pink noise and bust out the RTA.

Then very minimal time alignment.

Time alignment is win for me because I just use the crappy factory locations, and don't have the means to fab up some kicks or anything while I'm at school.

James you arent even a GOOD troll anymore, seriously. People want to run active because of all the assclowns here that proclaim it to be the best. It isnt always. I have no real desire to go active, and most here that DO run active.. well, there stuff sounds worse than it would ran through a standard crossover. They simply dont know what they are doing.

I'm not trolling to get poke fun at active emo kids to get a rise out of them. I'm trying to get some info out on why people want to go active or what the hell their goal is.

Going active is just about the beginning, IMO. Get to flexibility...? more control...? what are they gonna do w/ that flexibility/controL??? ctrl+alt+del

and it's not like i'm trying to shove a religion down your throat.

I went active for the flexibility.

I'd rather stretch. It costs less.

When people ask me for suggestions on passive components, I don't really know what to tell them... and haven't for years.

I'm going active so I can try out different drivers and see what satisfy my tastes. Seems cheaper than spending money on component sets and then just swapping them out for a superior set if I was not satisfied. Start out with a $70 set, then go to a $200 set, then maybe even a $400 set. =/ I think you know what I mean. =P

I'm not really sold yet on T/A, but perhaps I will be when I start tweaking that.

I know going active won't magically make my system sound "better", but the fact that I can set my own crossover points means I can choose from a ton of different drivers and do a very nice 2-way front stage for about $300 or less. I ordered Mach 5 MLIs ($80/pair shipped) and LPG 26NAFMs (thinking about $52/pair shipped).

Another thing was that I ordered a couple Clarion DXZ785USBs. The 2nd one I ordered was only $130 shipped. At that price, I figured going active with a very solid HU was worth a shot.

Hmm, just thought about something. I suppose you could ditch buying budget component sets and just start with a quality set. Still, $250 or so seems steep to me unless the set is exactly what I wanted. It's kinda like building your own PC. Choosing the parts is part of the fun and you can get quality stuff for good prices.

Well yah, I just don't have any specific product suggestions for passive much anymore. Maybe brand suggestions, but I don't really follow passive component sets, nor know how all of today's offerings sound.

After reading about it about a year ago I wanted to do it because nobody around me has done it. I thought it would be good for me because I don't and wont mind spending a lot of time getting it right. What set the idea in motion was that I had the choice of picking almost whatever speaker I wanted instead of buying a component set that is made for each other for about the same price or more.

Yes I can, however not very well. After rereading it I see your talking about the biamped set sounding better, i thought you went back to referring to a active set, my bad.

However ive only seen one set of biampable passive, I think it was some BA z6's maybe? And from the looks of it I thought it just had a place for another input effectively just allowing you to apply more power? So could you not do the same by just giving the same amount of power threw the passives?
