Tips to avoid getting jacked

All they'd have to do is pop my hood and cut my batt cable. Oh well...

DEI 520T Back-Up Batt. Better yet, a second car audio batt for both sound & security, but you can't hide that! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I added extra insurance, Hooked up Two plunger type Pepper spray hose's to my AC vents Left and Right side. Pointing the nozzle just behind the vent.

When the alarm goes off it arms. If you disarm the system it's triggered. Can't steal what you can't see!

Don't use Mace, That stuff hangs around for days. Unless you want to drive with a Gas mask.

That seems backwards to me. I guess if they try to disarm the alarm, it goes off.
Correct. If the alarm sounds the system arms. If you cut the wires it triggers the plungers.

I did not want it armed when the system was off. It was pretty easy to design. You only need to relays one for grounding and one for the hot signal from the brain.

2 things to add

1. Disconnect trunk popper and disconnect trunk all together, that way is they eat your key hole up they still cant pop it and with your alarm you should be able to get in your trunk with the trunk popper

2. Chain your trunk down from inside and dont tell anyone not even your mother how you have your trunk rigged

With a bit of time and money you can put a relay on your windows to roll them up and down by the touch of a button...and then add a good welded mount to your door with a chain and have the chain secured to the truck and chain ur door up when u go to the mall or school etc... and just roll your window up once u have the chains on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And for the sake of my audio equipment....I wouldnt mind carrying a 2 small wrenches around to undo my chain:D

badhoopty: love the facade. is that a CDA 7998 in there?

things that would be awesome (all can be done for the right amount of cash)

1. alarm hooked up to a relay that triggered your system to turn on test tones at full volume

2. lamanate glass windows (shatter proof ones)

3. a car alarm that doesn't sound like everything else....perhaps an air raid siren.

4. hooking up strobes, LEDs or other police lights to your car alarm is a good idea (especially the LEDs because they can be hidden until energized)

5. leave your dog in the car (windows cracked of course) believe it or not, even small dogs will deter thieves like no other. (this doesn't apply to being parked for extended periods of time)

6. i'm a big fan of multiple sirens. A basic 12V lantern battery can power several sirens and if wired properly will continue to blast the thief even if he cuts power from the battery.

7. avoid parking in excessively unsafe places.

I have also did an install on a suv for my friend where we actually took his amp and made it a false floor but stuck the amp like down into the floor , but instead of seeing it got him the orignal stock carpet made it look like the amp was not even there and u could not see the rca's or anything it looked like there was no amp at all just the enclosure and sub's . for the enclosure/sub's you can also drill through the bottom car/suv *be careful about this check to see where your gas tank is but onward , you can drill through the bottom put bolts on the inside of the enclosure making it so the enclosure is not liftable *can use some loctite or some sort of adhesive for the bolts* and to save your sub's you could also either use all diffrent kind of screws each a diffrent size will slow the theif down or will not steal the sub's because of how the screws are . Very great sticky by the way.

I have a 1985 Cutlass Supreme. During those years it was hard to chop or steal these cars because lots of things had serial numbers and a good example is the trunk can't be opened without the key because the key must be in the ignition for the button to work. However I'm putting over a grand in my audio and I've went through this post and decided an alarm is a great idea, however I'm not exactly making a lot of money so I'm not sure which one to choose and what tips would best fit my car. Any suggestions?

If a theif can't steal your sub due to different screws.....expect a screwdriver being drove thru it....so you cant really save your subs but you can always buy a recone kit instead of a whole nother sub

Grilles can help to make it harder for the punks to slash the sub(s). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Does anyone know where I can find or order some very fast pulsing 12v LED's? Sort of like the ones on the new police cars.

I would like them to be small and esentially invisible on the inside of the car, but bright enough to see at night when triggered to act as a major deterent. I found something like this online but they only flash like one pulse per second, which would be good as a "flash when armed" LED but not as a "flash when triggered" LED.

Surely there has to be something like this out there.

thx

How big are most car alarm brains? I'm looking to getting one this spring*school and car out of sight at work*...Anyhow, I want to wire it up myself, more for experience than anything. So, on average, how big is a brain for a mid-range alarm?
