Remind me to never buy boxes from you.yea screws arent NECESSARY, but it does make the process go faster. By using screws you dont have to wait for the glue to dry. I made a box today and i had the subs bumping before the glue was even dry all the way. So in that case, screws are good.
I JUST finished a box for 2 DD 9515's, 2- 6" aeroports and with 1/2 power hit 146.3 on its first burp. NOT A SCREW IN IT! The subs are 50lbs each.. box construction>screws.i wouldnt build a box without screws unless its either not going to be extremely loud or the subs are light! why cause they will fall apart i tought wood glue is all that was needed till last night
Did you use clamps or brad nails?I JUST finished a box for 2 DD 9515's, 2- 6" aeroports and with 1/2 power hit 146.3 on its first burp. NOT A SCREW IN IT! The subs are 50lbs each.. box construction>screws. The wood glue makes the bond, not the screws. IF you use screws, pre-measure to make sure the screw is dead center in the middle of the MDF, pre-drill(not an option), do not overtighten(wood split=weakening), and still let the glue dry before moving on.
These are only suggestions from experience. You can build a box however you want.
my subs point forward and i got 3 subs. so it strains on the box alot more then say a box with the subs on top. maybe it was just bad luck or something last box i had that didnt happen to it. or any other box ive had. i did use some wood glue called loctite from walmart. i tought that was enough. but im switching back to gorrila glue lolI JUST finished a box for 2 DD 9515's, 2- 6" aeroports and with 1/2 power hit 146.3 on its first burp.
