Tint Questions

I want to tint my windows to add security, reduce heat, and make the car look better. I've been reading stuff on a lot of sites, but still have a few questions.

How much should it cost to do two front windows and a window strip?

Which brands of tint are good to use or which ones should I look for when I go to the shop?

I thinking that I want to match the factory glass and I have read where that is around 25%. Is this correct?

In order to get to 25ish% I was thinking I should put 35% on the glass because I've read that clear stock windows are already like 77%. Is this true?

If I do 25% on the fronts would it look weird to have a 5% window strip? Do window strips even do that much?

Sorry for all the questions.

Let me know if you have any suggestions about the percentage of tint. I was thinking 25% would be find darkness wise.

I paid $50 for the two front window tints. I got 21% and they match up perfectly. Don't remember what brand they were but since they were only $50, they will probably last me a couple of years and then i'll just replace them if they start to act up. And factory tint is not actually tint, its just glass coated black. What kind of car do you have?

I have a '98 4runner. I didn't mean that they were tinted, but when they are metered they measure like 77%.

Do shops charge more for say 20% over 35% since 20% isn't leagal?

no its all the same price. about that adding security part they would probebly think you have a system then break the glass and take your hu.

True. I would still remove my faceplate. I guess it wouldn't add that much security since you can still see 20% right?

Just curious but wasn't there a thread on here about what tint % is legal in each state? I need to figure out what's legal in my state bc I really can't afford another ticket...

I tinted my whole windsheild 30 percent with a 5% strip.. and it looks liek this, haha

BTW, you get what you pay for... there is such thing as 40 dollar rolls of tint, and 150 dollar rolls... it should appear Grey "smoke" color when you get your tint done, and backed by a lifetime warrantee.... If not, leave.

5% is gay and not needed.

at least look for a metal film. and not a cheep dyed film.
