This is what i plan to do, help me out with the details

Ffor rock I'd just go ahead and seal them, SQ is your goal anyway. Porting tuned low still sounds a bit off to my ears, unless it's rap or something like that, then I don't mind so much.

I have always used 10s and just thrown them in a box in my trunk. for this install i want it mounted very stealth, out of the way, and under the deck. Last night I was playing around with the idea of 2 10w6v2's. I just want this to be as small of an enclosure as possible and not hang down very much. thinner the better, as long as i don't sacrifice sq..

what is the mounting depth of the w6's? The 8w3s are like 4.2 or something right?

oh, you said 10w3v2 not 10w6v2.... tell me the depth on those as well then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

^^^ lol, that's kind of what I thought. whats your opinion on the 4 8w3v3 setup trigger?
IMO It would be decent if setup properly. Although I would suggest two 10" W6v2's sealed over the W3v2's.

In a cost effective setup I would look in to the RL-i8. It has a very detailed sound, with the capability to get very loud. And the recommended box size is just .21ft^3 sealed or .38ft^3 ported IIRC.

If you plan on sticking with JL you will not go wrong, But the W6v2 would be my recommendation.

do you mean 2 of the 10" w6v2s over 2 10" w6v3 or were you comparing 10w6v2 to the 8w3v2s?

who makes the RL, i think i remember reading about it somewhere, was it earthquake? would you get the RL over the JLs? are they a better SQ sub? what is the freq range? how much power, and how many, would you stick with four of them?

yeah 2 10w6v2 would be awesome, and if i have to go to 10s to get what I want, then so be it....i just want to keep the enclosure small. but in the end SQ>space.

If you get them cheap get them, they are overpriced usually... not bad amps otherwise. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

all the setups that friends have had over the years (pro install) have been terrible that had alpine amps. maybe the setup just sucked, but i wont ever use one.

I was comparing 2 of the 10" W6v2's to 4 of the 8" W3v2's. The W6v2's would be a better choice IMO.

Soundsplinter makes the RL. http://www.soundsplinter.com

The RL-i8 is more comparable to the 8W7. The W6v2 has a more natural sound than the RL but in terms of overall output and soundquality together I would recommend the RL-i8. The W6v2 will only excell in SQ over the RL.

They are 500 watt RMS each. I would get 4 sealed or 2 ported.

Ok, so for the most natural sound Q you would go with the 10w6v2?

if you were doing this setup, with my specs, what would you do?

2 10w6v2s? 4 JL 8w3v2? 2/3/4 RL-i 8? how much power would you give your setup and what type of enclosure?

the output I am not too worried about, i can get the bigger alpine amp, and drive more power to it, and tune it correctly. i have a guy that will RTA for me. I just want tight, accurate bass that plays low enough to cover what I need.

thanks for your input
