There's too many head units, help choose

I have the AVH-X3800BHS and the interface is laggy but then again, I haven't updated to the most current software update. I also have the AVH-x490BS and was purchased through Amazon and I paid total was around $230, definitely way cheaper than the 2800 or 3800 models I've seen being sold on Amazon at the time.

I have the 490 installed in my wife's vehicle and the interface is a lot smoother and no lag compared to my 3800. I also like the buttons on the bottom instead of on the side also, but that's just my personal preference.

at some point i plan on upgrading from my 4500 to either the 4800, or the 4900 (if i wait long enough for it to be released LoL), im mainly concerned about the time it takes to start playing music from usb. I hope its faster than the 4500

check out the jvc. next year they will be alot more expensive

i want a double din dvd player, 4 volt preout, active capability, the expected myriad of audio settings (i think youve covered that they have this stuff already) and a MUCH faster audio playback starting time from usb. The thing that ticke me off the most about my unit is that from the time the deck turns on to when the music starts playing, i could make a pizza, eat it, drive to cali from south dakota and back and the music still wouldnt have started playing

what are your thoughts on the KW-V41BT?

ugh... i just looked at the back side usb cord, its hardwired to the unit... Why do they do that?????

i don't have thoughts on it money. its decent but Id go with at least the 730. if you cant afford a 730 ill sell you mines and upgrade. lol

the 730's price doesnt look terribly unreasonable, but the aesthetics arent to my liking unfortunately

i also rather miss a volume knob, not that the pioneer has one either

Dude you don't need a volume knob you just turn your finger on the screen like a volume knob

It has just took control and the volume works really good

i know i dont need a knob, i just miss having that physical apparatus to control volume. Im not a fan of tapping + or - or even sliding my finger for volume

That was one of the things that I wanted I wanted a physical control knob but dude honestly I don't miss it one bit the whole unit has 3 buttons on it and that's all it needs it really only needs one

ill need to find a local shop that has such a deck and fiddle with it. Id hate to buy a deck that has controls like that and just not like them, ya know what i mean?

I have installed the Android head unit from Smarty trend in my car and I am satisfied with it. I have full touch one and don't regret about the physical control knobs, I use the steering wheel buttons to regulate the volume. I also was doubting about the full touch screen, but all the advantages you could understand only when you have it already. I think it is the most up to date solution today. You could use the navigation, install the cameras, video recorder, watch the video, listen to the radio, connect your phone. I think it must be the android head unit for your car model. You also could find a cheaper brand.

Thats all its good for, toys and apps. Its complete and utter garbage for car audio. Poor 16 bit dac, virtual no tuning aka sh*t EQ, no time alignment, crossovers and basically everything you need audio tuning wise its sh*t. Most only have one or two pairs RCA output and the pre out voltage is complete trash testing at less than 1 volt.

Its okay for the average joe but this is a car audio forum. Theres big reason why nobody ever recommends android units on here.

Just got the 730 installed and the on screen volume circle only works on regular radio, no carplay or xm. Is that right or am I missing something
