The Official Type R Thread

What's a good box for a single type R 12? I have a Q-logic 1.75cu ft that can be sealed or ported and I have a 2cu ft slot port box tuned to 32hz. What do you guys have?

mostly custom...port it, around 2-2.5 cubes per sub, tuned to 30-35 hrtz...try not to go pre-fab

dude...2 of 3 posts have been trash talking...shut up. but on a nicer note, 1.25cu.ft. will not blow your subs up. I have mine in exactly that but sealed and they great. but dont go ported with just 1.25cu.ft.

cmon man, u asked if ur subs would blow up??? look at the rec. specs. i got my system when i was 15 for $150, just what i wanted! but anyway ur a newb, u ask dumb questions, just like the pioneer vs. alpine in ur other thread!

Hey, im new at this, but it seems that TYpe-R's are the best bang for your buck. Which Model is the best (by year) because I noticed that people be talkin that '04 models are better than the newer ones... or am i just seeing things?

oh and what kind of amp should I run. My budget is about 600-700 total on the R's, and amp and dynamat.

Well, the last subs I bought where 2 12" RF Punch HX2's back in early 2000. They are in a 4.0 box tuned @ 32. I just got a BX1500D and they sound good. I listen to everything from rap to rock to disney songs(depends if the kids are in the car..lol). The car is an 03 GMC Envoy.

I was wondering if I would notice a big difference between the two as far a SPL?

Would it be an improvement?

I finally purchased everything for my new setup.

(2) 12" Type R's ('05 model)

Hifonics BX1505D amp

4.5 ft.^3 tuned to 32 Hz enclosure

All going in a '92 GMC Yukon 2 dr. I can't wait to get it all hooked up. This should be quite an improvement over my old Xplod setup that got stolen.

my 1242D came in about 3 days ago and now its running off my 500/1... sounded very loud off 500 watts... im still thinkin about sellin this amp and buy another amp with around 700-900watts.. any suggestions? thinkin about the nine.1 or the orion 1200d
