The Official Type R Thread

If you were clipping the hell out of the amp, in other words...
Doubt it, gains weren't even half way. NO Bass Boost, crossover was @ 60hz.

My HU LPF is at 50hz doubt that would mean anything because thats what the MTX was at. I understand they are two different subs though.

I had the 05' type R, wired in at 2ohms. (Double checked). Everything was hooked up fine. The only problem was my inline fuse was too small 30amp and my amp was pulling 60amp (due to the 4 to 2ohm convert I did). So I went to a 80 and it wanged like nothing I've ever heard.

Don't see how you can smoke an R with that little power... unless you had massive clipping.

I doubt you saw more than 300 actual watts to the woofer...

I send 1500 ACTUAL watts to mine daily... and yes, I beat on em DAILY... and no problems thus far?

Im sure its in this thread somewhere... but I said before the type R relies alot on its cooling system to keep it goin, if you clip it you screw that up.... remember its still just a 2" coil.

Use it right and its *the* loudest low note woofer I have ever tested...

i just bought a 10 inch alpine type r 1022d sub, with a mrd-605 mono amp, and a ***** am stealth enclosure. do u think this will sound good?

Prefab box... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

But hook it up and find out, you already bought it so there its too late for out opinions.

I just dont see how that thing needs 1500 watts to hit Xmax. Its gotta be there before 1500
it doesnt?

If you know how to make a box for it... it stays under control very nicely, doesnt move much and puts out quite a bit of SPL.

If your getting this thing to XMAX in a ported box and you can still hear, something wrong with the box.

its effeciant and handles lots of power so long as its not clipped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok ok, i should say maybe if you have an extreme case and want to make a huge box with a huuge port, but in most everyone elses application, they wouldnt be able to do 1500
I dont have a huge box... nor do I have a huge port...

If I did, the subs would blow up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you just have to get the box RIGHT.
