The Official Type R Thread

Well, it will probably be for an SQL setup. It will be in theback of an SUV, so i got room to play with. Figure I'll power it with a hifonics 1000 or something similar.

I have a dual 4 ohm type r 12 FINALLY figured it out know the amp choice i must go with that fits my budget is the A8000T amp which is like 160 shipped so not to bad just hopefully will push the R any other type of suggestions for an amp would be appreciated!

Why I closed your thread:

Because I'm a nice guy. Because I realize some of you lack the reading comprehension to see that there's a massive thread dedicated just to this purpose. So consider this your only warning.

The next thread about the Type R not posted in that merged thread will be deleted on sight.

Thank you.

What would be louder? I woud be giviing both options 1000w rms. The 10" dual enclosure is 1.82 cubic feet, and the 12" enclosure is 1 cubic foot. I want to know what setup would be the loudest. thanks

Whats the difference in a bandpass box and a ported box? Whats bandpass do i know ported gives more bass.

Becasue if i build a box similar to this for a 12" type r will it be better than sealed?

Casue there no way i can put a ported box behind my seat in my truck and the bandpass box can go on the hump in the middle of the floorboard. Plus from what ive been toldi cant build a ported box for the hump caue it would be too small.

Bandpass enclosures are normally 100% SPL, and sound like garbage IMO when it comes to SQ. Ported is normally the best of both worlds, with a nice combonation of SPL and SQ. What are the dimensions of the space you have to work with?

I do not reccomend buying a prefab box of any kind, building one yourself, especially a sealed box, is simple and MUCH cheaper in most cases.

Well my trucks at the body shop right now but to put it on the hump in the floor i can assure you its no more than 18x18x18*guesstimate*

How much bass/loudness would i lose if i built a sealed box?

I have a 1987 chevrolet Silverado if that will help you out any ill try to find a interior pic so you can give me more ideas.

Here are some interior pics from other trucks not mine just to give you an idea of what im workin with.

Behind the seat most likey not an option for a type r unless someone designs a really good box somehow:

Heres one of the hump in the middle of the floor not sure if you can see it:

heres another of the inside:

if your truck has about the same space as the one in the pic,

you may have enough depth to fit the sub and an extra 1" of depth for the board and clearance, you could do the sealed or ported, i would not think of using band pass for the simple fact that you don't have enough area for it.

it looks like you have 30" width x 16" high x ? depth, youll do fine with a dual 10" sealed or single 10" ported.

on the alpine manual it says that a single 10" type r should be in a 1.3cu ft. I'm sure you can make the box bigger to get a little more bottom end bass, but if that's all the room you got the type r will sound just fine in an 0.6~1.3cu ft ported or 0.6~0.8 cf sealed.

i got mine in a sealed 0.7cu ft and i love it.
