Is it necessarily bad to have the port within 2-3 inches of my trunk hatch. I have a 1999 Explorer Sport 2 Door... So cramming these 4 12's may be a little tricky.

What would be the best sealed box volume for an Alpine SWR-1042D? Crutchfield says 1.0 but the spec sheet recommends .65.

I would go with what Alpine says not crutchfield. I am building a box for my 12" type R and im going with Alpines recommendation of .85 cu ft.

Ok ill be gettin my truck back this month and Im getting a 12" type R .

Now since this will be in a reg cab truck i have hardly any room to work with. So i need for sumone to give me dimensions of the smallest ported box i could make for a type r. Then ill measure my truck and see if it can fit.

Btw what is the mounting depth on a 12" type r ive done a search but came up with nothing and i couldnt get the manual to ever load.

I posted this in the general section to but i didnt get any replies yet so ill see how it goes in here.

type r behind the seat of a regular cab? good luck! i'm about to do the same with my standard cab(maybe this weekend). i am mounting the sub, pointing up, lower in the box on the passenger's side. the port will be facing up as well on the driver's side. my seat will be almost all the way forward to fit it. i will post up some pics and dimensions as soon as i get it finished.

to answer your questions(according to manual): mounting depth is 7.7", and optimun vented enclosure is 1.7"^3 internal before vent/sub displacement(~2.5"^3 external displacement).

Hey guys,

Im wanting to put 8 12" type r's in my tahoe- street box- 32hz tuning. what size should i make it? how much port area? I have 4 hifonics bx1500d's for power-, so its not an issue. Also- dumb question- to get 1 ohm out of the amps (2 subs per amp, 1 ohm) do i need dual 2's or 4's? Thanks for the help guys

2 dual 4 subs = 1 ohm load

You need dual 4's

I don't know much about boxes but if you make a good box with that setup you have you'll be one of the loudest.

Hey guys-

I have about 23.5 cubes available ( without doing a wall), and if at all possable, i dont want a wall. what i want is subs up, port back (crx sytyle, i believe) oh and iagrdshaka, I am from carroll, ia. where is k-town? anyways, im thinking about 2.3 cubes each, tuned to 30-32 hz. Any suggestions otherwise? thanks
