The Official Type R Thread

my.php

just sorta whipped that up. If I went with 15's I'd have to do something like that....

^^^^I don't dought ya. Those 9500's are extremley powerful subs. Why don't you just buy another one then!? I'm sure that would be comparable to the 4 l7's or 4 r's!? But on the L7's mine are in tune with every single beat. It all depends on the box build and the Freq you set it to on your amp as well. But those L7's I think would be louder.

Another 9500 in a snailshell is 800 bucks plus 400 for another 1501d, then I'd have to do some serious electrical upgrades, those suckers draw sooo much current. If I sell my system for 1000.00, I'll have enough to buy my 2500D (getting it for 550.00), and then when I sell this extra computer for 500, i'll have enough to get 4 L7s, 4 R's, whatever and then some. By that I mean dynamat, another optima yellow top, etc.

Not tryin to be a thread buster, but what is it about the type R's by alpine??? I thought they were low level subs (till I did a search on them here)... There rms is pretty low (for the 12 it's 500 rms) so what makes these subs better/louder than the L7 ??/

So is the general concenses that the type R is not as loud but sounds better or is it they ARE louder AND sound better...?????

I would have suggested 4 15"s L7's but now I'm curious

what do u guys think i should go with. a singel 10 or a 12" type r. it is going to go in a sealed box, most likely fiberglassed. i want sound quality and i want to be able to get lound when i want to. i know i am going with a dual 2 ohm so i can run it at 1 ohm with 600rms. let me know guys.

go with two 1200ds instead, you'll get a little more wattage and they are stackable or whatever the term is ~2500W @ohm IIRC buzz is wearing off, strappable

I really dont' need more wattage, with the box I'm building, the subs will be going as much as they need to. The 2500d is rated at 13.8v i think!? So with a nice iraggi alt, i'll easily quench their need for power. So like 550-650 watts per sub on avg. I've decided to go with the L7s in a 12-14 cubic box tuned to 40hz.
