The Official Type R Thread

I wondered what would happen when the new Type R boner ran into the Rl-p boner on the street corner.
the tests are objective... take em for what they are worth.

The R is cheap and loud... while sounding good. If alot of people magically like paying less and getting more, it must be a boner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

No, what got you accused of being on the RE bandwagon was the "Oh give it another 1000w and the XXX will smoke the Rl-p. Give it more power and it'll sound 10x better than the Rl-p and get way louder" type of talk. And no one here is saying that the Rl-p should "own" the Type-R (as you tried doing in Kent's thread)...or that any sub should "own" the Type-R.

But, lets not revisit that, again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
That's funny, my comments on giving the XXX more power were in reference to comparing their SPL output. One was being fed 100% of its rated power while the other was being fed 50%... at the beginning of the test at least. So yeah, what was I thinking mentioning that when you guys were trying to compare which got louder? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif And I never once made any comment even remotely like a XXX would sound "10X better" than an Rl-p. Nice try.

Face it squeak, you are now doing what you accused me of then, defending your precious favorite sub against the new forum boner without having done the comparison test yourself. Frankly, Im not even disagree'ing with your comments here or your opinions, Im only disagree'ing with your not allowing someone else the same without slandering them or their motives. I think Ive made my point now, you can chose to see it, ignore it, or reply with some lame excuse why you are right now but I was wrong then. Either way, I wash my hands of this with you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

mrray, oh now I remember us talking about this. Their website does show two different enclosure reccomendations in two different place, or at least it use to. The 2.5 is the incorrect one. But yeah, the SQ/SQL recommendation is smaller, at 2cuft per 12. That's what they recommend by mouth over the phone as well (or use to heh). My bad on not remembering you;d told me that before, but again, 2.5 is too big really.

when all reviews are in, then i'll agree. till then, i still think ur biased, and again, rightfully so as the type r as proven thus far to be the woofer that u need. (as in spl) so, it's not necessarly a bad thing.....just something that needs noted.

which is indeed a good deal...or a boner:naughty:

anyway, get to work....you have reviews to do!

didn't know it at that time..lol...but like i said then and now..it (and the rl-p) really came alive in the 2ft^3 tuned to 34z....but i never understood re's recommendations anyway...like the .8ft^3 net for the 12xxx sealed...clearly it needs more then that..it needs more then 1.25ft^3....oh well...

I'll some it up so far in... not done yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The RL-P will be given its fair shot @ performing to its max. The test probably won't be "finished" until monday.

Something we can all agree on, the RL-P sounds bad in this box. Its on par with previous tests, yet I'm still "biased"? hmm... That that for what its worth and move on. I'm not one to *only* test the box in the "rec'd" boxes, I'll test it in anything and everything , as stated in the email above to mike.

I look forward to hearing the RL-P in the 2 cube 28hz box, contrary to popular belief I *want* the woof to perform well. I didn't get into the test with the idea of screwing over SS and the RL-P, its just an objective comparison.

I have a 1 cube sealed box floating around somewhere... probably in my giant stack of test boxes. I also have a 1.5 ported (aerports, tuning = what I want) box floating around... it may get a shot if the 2 cube doesn't do the RL-P justice.

Before you write this test off as BS...

Are you guys coming to Norris' show tommorrow?

If so, bring the Rl-p and a few boxes with you. I'd like to hear what you guys are hearing.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS: It's sum, not some, in this instance.

Im goin, mostly because I don't have to wake up at 4 AM to make it to a show for once... YAY.

I may not be competing, doing drag doesn't really have any significance to me, and at this point I'm saving up for other things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I'll bring the RLP and a drill along... but I can't guarantee the blazer will be there. Perhaps we can call that part 2, type R vs RL-P in the monte... too bad I only have a crappy run of 4ga wire in there... wont be able to do much SPL tests =). If someone would like to donate some 1/0ga for both + and - (the MC is unibody, one crappy arse ground car) doesn't have to be a permanant install... just enough to hook up the amp, hell, it can run outside the car for all i care haha... I do have a blue top and a 200 amp alt in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

btw, the magic type R wangity wang box probably wont be there... mostly because its a very simple design that anyone could copy without much trouble. that being said... it won't fit in the confines of dam near *any* cargo area.

I have enough left over for a (-) run!!

Now you just need the (+) run //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm tempted to bring the blazer... but oh man that thing is not a highway car. Loud exaust bouncy suspension... it gets old fast. Which btw, the blaze has dual runs of 2/0ga //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. It also has a full tank of 2.30 premium... i got it right before gas sot up to 2.30 for REGULAR... ouch. So i'd like to stretch that as much as i can.

If the blazer comes, I was too lazy to take out the amp and batteries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

SX no likey sealed in my experiences...

They can take a lot of power...go over to Termpro, I know a handful of people giving them 1500w+ with no problems.

The SE will take a good 800-1kw if setup correctly.

Yeah, this could be sweet... one bandwagon meeting another... after the SQ evaluation a gang war will break out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
