Ok forget about the SX already. In the subs same price range how does it compare to other drivers. For daily use...
That's what I'm comparing, because I was looking at a single SX or a pair of Type R's. The test concluded that the Type R beat out the SX, despite the fact they were in slightly different power ranges. If it beats out the SX, I think it's safe to say the SE will be on the list of defeated woofers too...Ok forget about the SX already. Your missing my point. As I'm sure everyone else is.That's what I'm comparing, because I was looking at a single SX or a pair of Type R's. I understand. But the bottom line is, I can get two R's for the price of one SX. Because of this test, hands down I am going for the Type R. Because, you figure... if a single Type R could outdue an SX in an spl test, then I'd rather go that route because with the situation I'm in, it's a PAIR of Type R's, or a single SX. It's pretty much a no brainer decision to me.Your missing my point. As I'm sure everyone else is.
This was an SPL related test. The Type-r put up some amazing numbers in an SPL box with a lot of power. Better than the SX in their test. Now if you are buying the type-r to use in SPL comps than this thread is helpfull to you.
If you are choosing a better driver to buy for daily bumping, this is not the thread for you.
How do they compare to equal drivers on RMS power in basic ported boxes. Do they still walk over the competition. Do we have any daily bumping comparisons? Or is everyone raving about these because of a great SPL score?
SPL is not the only deciding factor when choosing a sub, unless you are competing.
This was a SPL test.
Yep and I agree. I would also choose the 2 r's over 1 SX.I understand. But the bottom line is, I can get two R's for the price of one SX. Because of this test, hands down I am going for the Type R. Yeah, I know what you mean. But someone looking for SPL this test might prove to be extremely useful. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifYep and I agree. I would also choose the 2 r's over 1 SX.
Just making sure you and everyone else understood the context of this test. So by stating the type-r will beat out a SE is overboard on assumption. In an SPL test yes it will but SPL is not the only factor to a subs worth.
That's it simple as that![]()
Is peaking at 44hz a high frequency fart box??? tuning was approx 35hz... The setup plays music like nobody's business //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifI always wondered. Sure they put up a good number in an SPL box, burped at a high frequency, and feed more than double the RMS rating.
But how would they compare to say a RE SE, Kicker L7, Fosgate P3 in a basic ported box with the actuall RMS and playing music.
I think all this hype is overlooked as a basic SPL score in an SPL box with ungodly amounts of power. Do we have any street beater opinions? How do they compare?
As a current SE owner, I might be in for a treat. I mean, I LOVE my SE too! I can't even see myself selling it, I might give it to my girlfriend so I can at least still have visitation rights. hahaha. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifIs peaking at 44hz a high frequency fart box??? tuning was approx 35hz... The type R sounds better all around, WHILE handling more power and STILL being just as effeciant!
We tested in the 15" version of both woofers and same story.
The SX is a better fart woof, the R is a better daily driving woof flat out.
The sexxx was part of the 10" test.... and before that we put SE against sexxx and the sexxx was just all out better. Therefore... SE doesnt even compare to type R.
Well, how do you think it would sound with 500 RMS though? I'll be sending about 550 RMS to each if I get a pair.Is peaking at 44hz a high frequency fart box??? tuning was approx 35hz... EVery sub above looks WAY THE HELL better on paper than the type R... but for whatever reason the R is better at everything! Tommy took a while to get one because he just didnt think it would be better than the SX.. turned out the SX couldnt break a 147 because it couldnt handle the power. The type R 148.9 and it keeps on truckin. 500 RMS my arse....
the XXX isn't nearly as loud as the SX, the SQ is there though (to most) I personally don't like how it sounds. XXX = not much punch.Yeah, but I was referring to what specs they changed to get the output they did.
I guess maybe the 05 Type R was a project in itself, let alone the Type X rolling out.
Now, if the Type R (2005) was tested to be a tad better than the SX, then is the Type X comparable to the XXX?
no bracingI never said it was a "fart box" just an SPL box. I'm sure it is rather rigid with plenty of bracing and a double baffle.
So you can over power the R in a basic ported box. And it will still sound amazing on music. Basically retain some SQ. That's all I was wondering![]()
I've done a few setups with the type R... one recently in a taurus. I think his name is "custel" here?Well, how do you think it would sound with 500 RMS though? I'll be sending about 550 RMS to each if I get a pair.
Also, I've asked a few times but haven't heard much input on this. What has changed from the 04 R's to the 05 R's? What changes were made to cause this conversion?
