The Official Type R Thread

Hmmmm well I guess our trade is off then huh? No good replies on this.

Oh and for the record guys, the sub has no problems, I just want to go with two 12's that I can seal up in my small trunk since I dont have enough room to go ported in my trunk with the SX15 and since I cant seal the 15 up and sound good. the SX isnt even broken in yet.

Oh yeah,

no bracing
no double baffle

its a box thats the right size and tuning for the car... thats what SPL is all about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and yes... particularly at high volume the type R sounds way the hell better than the SX... SX = 147 and nearly explodes.... type R 147 and it sounds perfect.
Sounds good:)

now those old model type r's are horrible compared to the new ones...and here i am with 3 of the old ones sitting in my garage...hehehe hey they were loud to me like 2 years ago...now they're like blah. i still want to test your pair of 12's in my box mark. grrr...and we'll put teh dd's in your box and see what happens! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I never said it was a "fart box" just an SPL box. I'm sure it is rather rigid with plenty of bracing and a double baffle.
So you can over power the R in a basic ported box. And it will still sound amazing on music. Basically retain some SQ. That's all I was wondering:)
Just a plain 3/4" MDF box with not bracing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This thing just sounds ridiculous on music. Takes both amps like a champ and sounds GOOOOOD!!!

And, just to give you an idea, with a rough estimate we compared mark's monte carlo with my truck. With an older box, i had a 2 dB advantage just by cabin gain. So take the 10" type-r i got in my truck now, toss it in his car, and do a 146+....with one 10".

Impressive to say the least.

I am by no means bashing RE, i still love em. I just happened to find something that worked better for my application.

Nah, stick with the R's, they are pretty badass IMO. I'm a fan of single sub setups though, but even if i was you i'd stick with the R's as i just installed my friends system that has 2 of them and am VERY impressed.

what's up fallas i have been think about this setup for some time what do you think will give me the best sql spl setup for a sealed box the 2 rf t1s hit nice but i think 3 10s would be better??yes no???any 1 got any info411 for me if not then f-ck it i guess
