The Official Type R Thread

SBLAZER .. looks liek type-r = sx for spl by the looks of your sig..

thats pretty impressive i didnt know those things were that loud. how much power were you sending it?

and i believe the SQ being in favor of the type r

Keep in mind SBlazer's sig is the result of one test/competition. Do not take that as for every situation.
Id stay away from Treo, too expensive for what you get. Good stuff, just costs too much.
Ide say if youve got the money, then do it. Who cares about the price. Treo is now one of the top companies I sell at the shop, and we will be droping mmats for them. Who cares about the price, if you like what you hear, then get whatever sounds good to you.

Do you tell your customers "who cares about the price" too? lol Great sales pitch to buy Treo right there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Why pay more than you have to?

Sblazer's box has some more tenths in it. Believe me, it just needs a little TLC.

Type R > SX.

Well, as some of you may know, i now have a few subs in my possession. These subs are an seXXX, SX, and the newest addtion, a type-r. Now, i was a bit sceptical at first about the type-r, but after tonights scores i have no doubt that i will probably be using it for the rest of the season. So, without further ado, the scores.

SPL: in the kick, drivers door open

SX: 147.0

seXXX: 148.7

type-r: 148.9 (after about 5 other burps/rollups, so my voltage was hurting)

Not only is the type-r louder, it handled the power (strapped nine.1's at .5 ohm a piece) better and just performed better

Driveby: meter 6 feet away from passenger door, 4.5 feet off the ground

SX: no testing (wasn't worth testing because it SUCKED)

seXXX: 122.0

type-r: 123.4

Once again, the type-r prevailed simply because of the fact that it was able to handle both amps for music. With the SX/seXXX i had to use one amp because they could not take the power.

Now don't get me wrong, I love RE, great products. But god d*mn, i'm beating their "best" street setup SPL sub with a $130 sub i got off ebay. I really don't know what to think now.

And for all the people who are going to bash me, i did test out multiple boxes for the SX and seXXX, and those were the best numbers they pulled. And, as a matter of fact, i just tossed the type-r in the box the seXXX did it's number in. So this may not even be the best box for the sub.

Man those numbers are really surprising. Type R's seem like they are some great subs, very solid, loud, and have great sq. I am surprised they beat the SX. And I am also surprised that it took more power. Nice job though, seems like you covered all the variables. Two Type R's are only like 200 bucks on ebay, haha.

if the sq is better at higher volumes than the sx, but resumes the loudness and handles th power better... an 05 type r may be my next sub... i love my sx but i'd like a sub thats a bit more musical..

Would a 2005 Type R be a step up from a 2005 Kicker CVR?
Or would my $100-$150 be better spent on another CVR or a better sub?
the typeR is leaps and bounds beyond the cvr's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

My new system I just built has Alpine Type R's. I wanted something diffferent something I had not tried //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif . I gave them A try and they sound great, I wish I would have tried them earlier. I will be using these for a while and will more that likely be purchasing more Alpine subs in the furure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . They are far better than some of those other overratted brands.
