More xmax= more SPL = wrong

More cone area = more SPL = plausible

More cone area and xmax has nothing to do with the RMS of the sub though.

More xmax and cone area does not equal higher power handeling. They are probably using the same coils...

Don't underestimate the Type-r for this reason. Supposedly they are very great drivers.

My box is 4.5 cubes @ 45hz, and my Treo sucks in that box + it was smoking (due to over powering) and the dealers giving me a hard time so im going to get a new sub..

which one would you guys go with in terms of spl and having a nine.1

SX 15 wangs in my 3.6 cube @ 35hz. box with ~1250wrms on it....and its supposed to be a mic queen...

I agree - if it's in the price range and you can listen to it at your local shop, I'd give it a shot.

Out of your two options I'd likely go with the SX.

depends on if you want it loud or still loud but with SQ, ALPINE all the way yo. the 05' type r is truly underrated....500W rms? please........

havent heard an SX but the new 15" type r on a nine.1 is LOUD.....heard it last weekend in an accord....very impressed.i have 2 of the 12's but havent gotten to listen to them yet.
