how many cubes does 1 12 displace? would a box thats 2.15 cubes be to big for ported before the sub is put in there?
2 cubes after displacement and they like to peak in the 40's. meter if you can cause i had 4 peaking at 50 hertz a few months ago and now they peak at 43 in my SUV and my friend has a 15" in his truck and it peaks around 46 I think. You can also try to put some blocks in the box to see if the type r likes a smaller box because i've heard of people having a 12 in a box as small as 1.25 cubes.ok i found out 1 12 displaces .07 so does the box have to be 2 cubes after displacement or 2 cubes before displacement making it 1.93 cubes with sub displacement. this is for ported of course. also what is the recommend freq for these subs. 35?
i believe its more about the vehicle as to where the subs peak at, subs dont necessarily "like" to peak anywhere but where the vehicle itself peaks at. (which in most cases is between high 30's to low 50's.2 cubes after displacement and they like to peak in the 40's. meter if you can cause i had 4 peaking at 50 hertz a few months ago and now they peak at 43 in my SUV and my friend has a 15" in his truck and it peaks around 46 I think. i understand that. my team has tried type r's in a extended cab truck and a SUV. IMO i think type r's like to peak somewhere between low 40's and at the highest 50 hertz. I have never seen a type r perform good tuned below 40 and the highest i've seen one tuned is at 50 hertz in my explorer a few months ago. For strictly SPL a type r is loudest in the mid 40's. It does depend on what type of vehicle your putting it in to and I agree the it's where the vehicle peaks but I still think that no matter what vehicle you put in it it will stay in the 40's. I would tune to 44 hertz for your best bet but if you can get some time in on the termlab then fine tune it and get a few tenths or maybe another db out of it and then put some bricks in the box to see what size your type r likes. It's just my opinion but my team has been experimenting with type r's for a few years now.i believe its more about the vehicle as to where the subs peak at, subs dont necessarily "like" to peak anywhere but where the vehicle itself peaks at. It has more dB's.Anybody knows about Type r new model? When it comes? any info ?
search man this comes up allot. i made a thread a while ago asking that same question. search for how much power did you run to your type R. never mind found it for you. click heredoes anyone know how many whats these subs can actually take. they say 500 watt rms but as far as im concerned people are pushing over 1000 watts on these subs. my friend says these subs are next to impossible to blow so im thinking about getting a better amp. would this cause any damage to these subs at all?
