The Official Type R Thread

my box is ported to 30hz...i dont know what the size is though...got it from local store...but i know the sub pounds...im just worried that my x600.1 wont hit that much...i tried it out once and i had to turn the gains almost all the way up so it would hit b4 it broke down..i dunno if the gains all the way is good..i didnt use bass boost though

you may need a line driver to bringe the HU voltage up a bit.

i bet the sq on that thing must be crazy
i havent didnt get a chanse to do a full out lithening test just a couple of bass tracks and the video.

but as far as what i heard today, the frequency response is very flat. i have the crossover set pretty high like 100hz or so, and there was not bass tones that seemed faded or washed out every bass note was strong and clean.

I'm very happy, ill see tomorrow how it sounds with rock, reagetton, rap and others.

what does a line driver do?
a line driver increases the out put voltage of a low signal. some active xover do that as well.

dont do it I know you take his word for it but that is the worse subwoofer I ever heard, ever! wich makes me not even want a type R ether now
Naw, i'm just being sarcastic...........literally. And spkrman did not in anyway influence me regarding the type r's.

umm alot of guys that know spl know spkrman and what he did at the show (even though it wasnt big) was pretty impressive. basically in under a days time he flipped around his set up had nothing to test it with (his meter died) and busted a 150 without even knowing what his best frequency was. in another days time he could have made it prepared for either street b or c and im sure he could have done at least as good and probably better. basically he knows enough were he can get what he wants with little effort as opposed to alot of guys i know and if you want me to be honest for what you get even if he wanted to charge 400 per box per woofer it would be worth it. you might say "dang that is expensive" but from what other proven spl shops charge to get the same results and maybe worse costs alot more. does his box look as mean or weigh 360lbs? maybe or maybe not (depends on the vehicle) but the results are pretty unargueable. at most local comps his boxxes would net you a top 2 or 3 at least even if you live in hard hitter heaven.
i can attest to that as well. i watched it :p sorry bout your TL spkrman you ever figure out what was wrong with it btw?

I know there is a lot of hype about the Type R's and I must add that I'm close to buying them. Right now I have a 12" MTX 9500 hooked up to a 1501d and a snailshell from powered4sound, which I must add is the single loudest 12 setup I've ever heard, but I'm wanting a lot more. I thought about slapping 4 12" or 4 15" Type R's in the back hooked up to an Orion 2500d. My friend suggested that I go with 4 12" Kicker L7s hooked up to the 2500d. Would the Kickers be a lot louder? And if so, would the sound quality coming out of the kickers just ****? I want a decently sounding system, because my 9500 in the snailshell sounds freakin amazing, and I don't want to move to all SPL, i still would like some sound quality in there. Thanks for any tips/advice!

I havent heard much about the kicker l7's some good reviews some bad, but people are raving about the alpine type r's. I could only imagine if you had 4 of them in a great box, the sound coming out would be insane. A buddy of mine has the mtx 9512 and it is awesome. Almost identical set up as yours. I love it but he also is going to move to something even better.

If i were you personally i would move to the alpines, just because of a personal reason, never been much of a kicker fan. Thats my 2 cents
