The Official Type R Thread

hey, say what you guys want it was by far the best sounding type R i have ever heard and everyone that heard it said that also, and it was loud as hell, but we decided to go ahead and smoke the type R (sorry no realmofexcursion clips) so we took it back and paid the difference for an X, holy shit!i think his car doors are going to fall off

you guys can go against what i said its all good,

but you guys just havn't heard what i do,

i specailize in maximum SQL,

a guy at the shop showed me his w7 today, not impressed, the type R was louder and sounded alot better, really wierd (didn't build his w7 box)

but now the X is in, so my boy's not messin around anymore, i told him he'd get what he paid for

we will be at some DB drags soon too,

gotta tweak everything out

thats one magic type r if it sounds better than the dub 7 is all i am gonna say must have a kyptonite voice coil

they walk all over the 200spls. not even an comparison. and i send my R15 1400w daily w my epicenter goin crazy when i need it 2, the subs takes it and shows no signs of stress. after about 4 songs at full tilt, u MAY smell coils, but i turn it down and for a min or 2 and juss turn it rite back up. i beat on it hard a few times and it didnt fell me. the type r's dont mind the power, in fact the love it.

i wanna add something i think needs to be added into the equation here when people are talking amps. per rules of the orgs some dont care about power (db drag) some do (usaci) some do but do it strickly on fuse size (meca) so just think about what it is you are doing if u are going to compete.

im sure that the boxes were completely different sizes with different tunings, if you took your box, then listend to your R and took it out and put in an X, you wouldn't be saying your R is louderAlpine would not produce a subwoofer that is 3 times the price of the type R and it not be better....

it just wouldn't make sense
i dropped the X in 3 different boxes... all of which the R were in.

The X:

1: Sounded a hellllll of alot better, dam that woof sounds good.

2: Lost 2-3db to the R, depending on box. The difference was OBVIOUS... and it took alot more power to even get it to a decent level. The X peaks a little lower, though.

3: Didn't handle as much power as the R, it handled slightly more "RMS" but when alot of output was needed for a short period (whether it be burp or music) the X bottomed out. The R is extremely hard to bottom out.

Why does more expensive automatically mean louder? That makes me question how much testing you actually have done...
