Featured The Final Build! (#35)

Spring is coming so I decided to start a log for my new build. Gonna need you guys to stop me from procrastinating too much. Unfortunately, I will not do the badass sub stage that I originally wanted for two reasons. I want to spend more time outdoors. I bought a sick mountain bike so I need to keep the car practical for traveling. The second reason is the fact that I got burned on one of my Audison 1.2k. Instead of just having it fixed (if even possible), I will have them both completely revised.

So, here's the plan:

Source: Joying Android 9" screen
DSP: Helix pro mk3
Tweets and mids amp: Brax MX4
Woofers amp: Brax MX2
Sub amp: Diecock DA-V3000STR
Tweets: Focal TBM
Mids: Dynaudio E430
Woofers: Audison Sax
Sub: Alpine DDW-F30A

All in a car that is without a doubt the pinnacle of transportation technology and design: the Ford Aspire.

Currently working on mounting rings for the TBMs.

Facts about the Focal TBM tweeters:

Shape of the domes: Round
Shape of the magnets: Round
Shape of the housings: Go **** yourself!!

Stupid french...

In a listing of a guy selling his a-pillars, you could see inside that he used popsicle sticks to shape the base of his pods. I'm totally ripping that off.

Went with this from amazon.

Bolted both housings together and boom!. Who's laughing now Focal?!

Finally done. Too bad I'm not going with a Tiki themed interior. Fiber glassing time!

Hoping to make it all work in the sail panels as long as the dyns have enough airspace.

Looking good. That looked like a lot of work. Hope you don’t have an annoyed wife cause working on it every night. (What I have). (Love her most days).

What kind of sound treatment you doing? With the investment you almost have to do a lot to get the most out of it. I spent hours on two doors. Hope sound the way I expect.

Cheers guy

No wife or serious relations since covid. Been working 10-12h shifts for a while now so no time for that atm. I still have some damplifier sheets from my last build and probably put something like uxcell over it. Not sure yet.

build looks like it gonna be baller fs
jw though how come you chose subs that operate at such low power? (relative to ur mids and highs power)

Where are getting those diecock amps? That 2 channel is nice looking
They pop-up on ebay sometimes. I'm always keeping an eye out for crazy jdm gear like Bewith, Luxman, Diatone and of course, Diyakoku.

Well, I always was curious about these. They were top of line back when Japanese brands were at each other's throats. It will be in a sealed box with a matching passive radiator. Not the most compact but reasonable. I'm also pretty sure they are under rated. You can see it here next to a 250w CDT prototype.

Came with a nice little bonus amp too!

Baller. Back in the day my little sis had a Ford Fiesta (not Festiva). That thing was fun for some odd reason. I made a shelf behind the rear seats to mount a pair of 6x9s mated to a Kenwood single DIN.
With all that power and the attention I get, I literally feel like I'm driving a bat-mobile.

Not much done this week. Working on the angle of the sail panels. I played with the Diecock amp. The amp seems to run hot and the fan goes full speed as soon as the amp turns on. I'll send it to my tech just to be sure everything checks out. That 80mm fan if pretty noisy so I'll probably swap it for a Noctua. Impressive power, super loud even with the gain all the way down. I didn't know about the leds. Very cool!

Brought out the MX4 to take some pics. I was thinking about selling it but it's not as minty as I remembered so probably not gonna get what I want for it. I'll just use it for a couple years. Not the worst amp to own anyway. Pics are not doing justice on how massive this thing is. Funny thing, the fan blows in instead of ******* hot air out like most amps I've seen. It probably only turns on if the amp goes into protect.
