Featured The Equinox that Rocks?

Going to install the subs in the doors soon. Fast rings and some 150mil foam on the backs of the panels.

It's hot as the dickens out there but I said screw it. I got the Earthquake Shallow Subs (midbass) mounted in the doors. Speaker changes in this thing take minutes. Super easy.

That solid vapor barrier looks much nicer than what cars usually have, the plastic sheet with glue around the edges.

And the new door speakers look sweet too. Do shallow subs in doors perform well? I imagine since they don't need to actually play sub frequencies, you don't need a real enclosure. And subs have bigger coils/power handling and lower fs. Let us know how it sounds.

Their fs is 39hz. I don't have them playing under amp power yet. They are quieter than the factory door speakers as I figured they would be. The factory speakers got vocals through them... I don't hear vocals through these Earthquakes. Their response is 35 - 1,000hz. I am going to have them crossed over between 80hz - 400hz to start. I am going to be hitting them with 120w each from channels 5&6 of the JP77 amp. I will use a -5db 1Khz tone to set the gain for the midbass.

0db 1khz tone for the mids and highs
-10db 40hz or 50hz tone for the subs.

I am going to spend today wiring the speakers in the A-Pillars with waterproof quick disconnects and then permanently mounting the pods back to the pillars.

I believe all I have to do is run the coaxial from the media player to the dsp, the remote wire to turn the amp and dsp on. Then 3 pairs of speaker wires per side from the amp back up front. Run the speaker wire to the sub box. Still have to run the power and ground cables. Find a place for the fused distribution, the cap bank, the DSP. I have a double Din dash kit for this Equinox that I am going to modify. It mounts under the factory radio in the pocket so I am going to install it but I am going to mount a thick piece of abs in the double din opening and mount my amp bass knob, the readout for the cap bank and the knob for the DSP.

Just ordered some 16 awg wires on spools so I can properly wire my A-Pillars. I want to be able to disconnect them without removing the speaker pods from them. I ordered wire that will color match my 2 channel quick disconnects. Which are Red, Black, Blue, Brown.

Getting a feel for these under powered shallow earthquake subs. I am running them off the factory amplifier/head unit... greatly under powered and I am gonna for sure have to go nuts putting anti-rattle stuff on these door panels. I think these are going to do great from 60 - 200hz as they are not liking the higher bass stuff. Still going to cross them over from 80 - 400hz and sound deaden the hell out of the door cards/panels.

Man these door panels... I haven't had a chance to look at them and listen for the rattles BUT... I remember that each door in the front bottom area is a cup holder... I have screws in each of those cup holders just flopping around loosely. Wouldn't that be something.
