The CONS of a good system

Installed components for the first time and tweaked my system a bit and now that I have better sound out of components I hear flaws in my MP3's I didnt hear before. Little glitches in the compression etc. So I popped in some real CD's and wow, the sound, everything is just better.

What are other ways to get good sound to your speakers? XM/SIRIUS radio ? I dont think I can listen to mp3's anymore LOL...

install a turntable in your car. that's pretty much it, although that'd need super skip protection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

PMR has been there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That episode was on last night...I watched it, though I was quite intoxicated...'tis my excuse.

If I listen through my ipod, it's all good, but I get wierd squeaky noises on mp3 cds. Did it with an Alpine, and my Premier. XM radio is better than the strongest FM, but still suffers from unlevel volume from one song to the next like mp-3's, and the deep bass is still muddy like FM, and the highs are quite attenuated. Pure audio cd's are the way to go, though inconvienient. P.S. all my mp3's are recorded at 224kb and it doesn't matter, still get the intermittent squeaky noises.

mp3s ****, even a lot of regular cds ****....esp a lot of live music..... bass is all muddy....yuke
Ya my Metallica Ride the Lightning CD is not even close to sounding as good as say their BLACK Album.

So where do you draw the line? I mean I guess you have to **** it up and make the best CD's possible. I guess copying from CD -> WAV is teh best option? and then just make your own mix CD's.

mp3's do not ****, its just that most of you get your mp3's from kazaa and other p2p's where most simple minded people simply rip their cd's with itunes at the standard 128 kbps.

check out that site, basically their are different mp3 rippers out there that can sound just like cd's, the way they work is with very intricate variable bitrates and a massive input from the public. I have just started ripping using the famed LAME (alt preset standard) and exact audio copy (EAC) and the results have been amazing. Try it out.
