The annoyance of car audio install

I don't need one of these
I hate it when everything is humming along and my car abrutly shatters my plan of an easy install with some stupid obstacle... case in point today I and gutting the passenger area of my 4Runner for sound deadning and re-wiring in preperation for this weekends install... everything is going smoothly till I get to the center console and can't get it out... it seems that Toyota in all thier kindness wanted the back passengers to have heat, and rather than tax the heater in the front they installed a heater core and a blower in the **** center console... sure I could pop the lines off the heater corse but then my cab would be filled with antifreeze and I'd have to burb the system once it's all back together... I suppose I'll just cut the carpet down the middle of the center console and pull it out..

This weekend even bigger plans... I'm going to create a baffle for the daytons that instegrates/replaces 1/4 of the stock door panel, and create a 3cu ft downfiring box with an amp display rack on top fronted with a peice of plexiglass to show off the belle but still keep it safe...

anywho yay for car audio

Good news?

my kyrstal cables arrived //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif :yumyum: they are sexy and only like $16 apeice for 4m...

and my circular saw... now I'm just waiting on router/drill/counter-sink bits and a TC2+

I'd just clamp the hoses with vise-grips and have a piece of Tupperware to catch any that spills out.
It's hot outside, so flushing your cooling system isn't that bad of an idea anyway.
meh... I just cut the carpet because the lines aren't soft... they are hard lines so I can't pinch them... also the bottom of my cab is prob only about 1/4 up the radiator so I'd be trying to catch most of the antifreeze in the system

now it's raining //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

It should pass, it was really muggy so it's that type of rain that only goes for 20-30 min... which is rare in oregon... usually it's either 2-3 days or 2-3 months (I'm not joking, it rained for 2 solid months this winter....) then I can vac it out and get on with the SS spectrum and jute... and get all three of my Kyrstal cables run through //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif :yumyum: and 14ga speaker wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif yay

yah, the first and only layer of spectrum is in. I had to park under a tree to get out of the light rain and I layed it on THICK... then run an extension cord out to the 4Runner and stick a ceramic space heater inside to raise the temp up nice and high... that spectrum will be dry in no time, even though I layed it on thick....

Sludge is great in that it does the trick...but it sucks waiting for it to dry....especially when you slap it on too thick...almost better to do multiple thin layers IME.

And I feel your pain man....I always say yea it will take bout an hour to switch these amps out or whatever and then it usually ends up being two!!

Are your going to apply mat over it then? That's what I did...found the sludge to fill all the gaps nicely that otherwise would be hard to get mat into.

How bout sound isolation...gonna do that too??

I don't have any matting, just the spectrum... I'm going to use carpet jute for sound isolation... It's not the best but I've heard it works alright

Actually it's pretty good, especially for the price. I have about 100 ft^2 of it in my car and it did everything it was supposed to for me anyway.
Good read on Ensolite vs jute: http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showthread.php?threadid=109594
I got a big roll from my uncle for free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif... I have enough for 1 layer throughout on the floor

EDIT: nice it looks like the jute is almost as good, just alot thicker and harder to work with
