The weapons ban is the least of the dumb things Obama and his wonderful administration is doing right now. If the economy doesn't get better soon we'll all need an assault rifle or 2,3 or 4 to defend ourselves.

as amuricans its our right to bear arms, if i want a machine gun turret mounted on the roof of my house then god****it i should be able to have one, the founding fathers would've wanted it that way. how else am i supposed to defend myself against others? i want a .50 caliber sniper rifle..... why? because i want to shoot targets with it! duh! its still hard to believe i can't legally own a rocket launcher, i promise i would use it for good!
besides, i'm a perfectly sane individual. why shouldn't i be able own things that were solely designed for killing other people? its not like i will ever loose my temper or get drunk and use them to hurt someone. and its not like anyone would ever break into my house and steal all my killing devices and use them for killing others.

How many people have killed someone while they were driving drunk? You said guns should be banned because someone could get drunk and kill someone with it. Why should cars be any different?

How many people have killed someone while they were driving drunk? You said guns should be banned because someone could get drunk and kill someone with it. Why should cars be any different?

i just wish if people were going to argue banning modern day "assault rifles" would actually become educated on guns and try argueing from a different perspective.. most arguements have other influencing factors that back their opinion and go for immediate banning instead of understanding that anyone with basic knowledge of a gun can easily build large homemade device with a strict intent to kill someone if they wish... modern assault rifles are semi-auto (you have to have a class 3 lisence to own a full auto) most i repeat most should small caliber rifle ammo most common two rounds would probably be .223 remington and the 7.62 x 39 these bullets are very small in diameter compared to my .45 in my 1911 pistol... at which most of these are only accurate out to 300 yards, further than that will require extensive practice to become proficient to hit anything at all... basically they are made for

Although spelling and syntax could be better, this is still the most well rounded argument in this thread.

As far as I'm concerned owning an automatic rifle is slightly questionable for say. Just the general population these days has no real self control nor do they have any logic/reasoning. A person could own one just for bragging rights or for a little fun at the shooting range, but if something were to happen that drove the person past there limits I would not doubt for a second that use of the weapon in a disorderly fashion could possibly occur. I really do not see how it's any different owning a 6 shot magnum pistol compared to a 45+ magazine automatic rifle. They both kill the same do they not? One may be quicker than the other and have more range than the other but there exactly the same, gun poweder in a shell with a primer and a metalic round bullet at the end.

This is just my view on the topic and what I have observed over the past few years.
