I always use a long piece of tin foil and have my kid stick in the socket to make sure it works.

We call it the "don't **** off daddy" game.

It's how I have tested some of my subwoofers to make sure they are working.

just run a fusing in between the amp and the socket. and do it outside!

you can find a REALLY cheap amp I bet on CL to do it too. Man would that be awesome. Same goes for a sub.

Just splice into the power cable going to your breaker box

I usually tap into the power right before the meter, for horticulture reasons...
