Testing amps

Got a new amp commin today .. Quick question .. If I don't have my car going to test it I can just plug it into the wall right ??

I just cut off the power cord to a lamp or something, strip the wires, and then hook it up to the power and ground on the amp.

Since power is voltageXamps, and wall sockets are 120v, you should get pretty good power out of some 12awg wire.

I did this with my Crunch amp and it lit up fine. But I always had issues with it afterwards...

Ok cool bro ya this is a mojo 4k so ima use 4 gauge .. But that's what I was thinkin too ... Two bad I don't have extension cord long enough then I could slam in the car

If you're running that much power, make sure to splice a fan into the wiring.

If you want to see how much power the amp is making, take some vice-grips, and solder the connections of a multi-meter on it, and then once the amp is powered up, clamp down the vice-grips onto the power wire and the ohm load should tell you how much power it is making.

I always test my amps in a wall socket before install. Great idea to run that fan.
