Tennesee Schools start drug spray detection?

Won't they need parental permission to spray this shit? I personally would not want my kid getting sprayed by some new shit on the market to test for drugs on my kid when we really don't know if it has any side effects yet.
Another issue is I think this is more automatically assuming kids are doing drugs all the time, I personally think it should be the parents job and if I suspect anything I can always run to the drug store and get one of those at home tests. I don't need the school system parenting my kids for me.
They don't spray the kid, they spray desks and stuff that kids touch I believe.

Personally, I say good. I would want to know if my kid was doing stuff or hanging out with people doing stuff. Notice they didn't say they were going to accuse people, they're going to tell the parents the kid's been in contact with it in one way or another.

But if they eat lunch and the cafeteria lady gives them change, then odds are they will test positive for drugs. So they notify the parents for no reason.

Thats even worse, residue from the last period's class....yep that's a positive indication of illegal drug use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Right, you believe that the chain of custody on that information isnt going to leak out in a HIGH SCHOOL ? come on man, think it thru! All it would take is one like, super popular A+ honor roll captain of the football, all american student that comes up positive ... and that shit will be all around school in no time. That student could easily sue the school for deformation of character. I know I would.

Problem is contact with it can come about unknowingly very easy. It is accusing them of something with no physical proof. It is asinine at best.

Leave it to Tennessee to do some stupid shit. I've not lived here long, but im catching on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Case in point,

Cliff notes : Tennessee colleges put in place a 9.5 million dollar anti-file sharing initiative (meaning equipment, and new staff hired) when they can barely pay to keep the lights on.

Who needs lights to learn. Now piracy I can see as being more important to worry about. These kids spend too much time watching and listening to pirated media instead of concentrating on their studies.

UH DURRR.

You have to admit, thats a gross miss-appropriation of money when it could of gone to new teacher salaries.

x2

Even though I have no kids of my own, or know about any. It the parent's job to control the child's drug uses.

My parents did a fine job, sure I tried MJ, but I never got hooked, I do drink occasionaly and my parents are fine with that, since I do it in moderation and not often.

Just like respecting someone, it doesn't happen any other way but earning it.

I do agree the money could have done something else. Although Flip has a point about it saving them from losing money on lawsuits later. In fact this could have more or less been forced upon them by the RIAA.

Id personally let them spray me down then when I tested negative Id grab the can and throw it across campus or break it on a wall, and be like ***** dont ever try that shit again.
