Are they really the best sounding/lowest distortion subs or is this just hype? How do you tell the difference by ts specs? I recently heard a LMS ultra and it did sound pretty good but i had a AA Havoc that i thought sounded just as good and got much louder.

one of the best in the business. They have made many subs for other companies like eclipse lightning audio etc.

Believe the hype, son.

They are low distortion because of the variable wind coil. It maintains a constant bl curve up to a certain range of excursion (not sure what range it is, just know that it is further than other subs without the coil). Most subs have a parabolic curve where each mm of excursion either way will result in less and less bl. The reduction in bl is a major contributor to distortion.

As far as I know this is accurate. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Box is everything. I seriously doubt that the havoc could compete with a LMS IF they are both in their own enclosure, not the same enclosure but an enclosure made to bring out the most of each driver. The LMS can also take alot more power than the havoc while sounding just as good if not better.

Build Quality, Driver consistency, and linear displacement are second to none, there are better sounding drivers yes, but on average the Pre china TC stuff has no equal for their purpose.

Which of the current models are made in china? I have also considered jumping the TC bandwagon..lol

I have heard both in their own enclosure, the havoc was in a ported enclosure(15") the TC was in a sealed enclosure(18"). The Havoc sounded awesome and got nasty. The TC sound real good especially for an 18,but it wasn't very loud. Havoc on a 1800 rms hifonics amp,the TC off of two Zapco c2k 9.0's. I not saying the TC didn't sound good because it sounded great, just not as loud as i thought an 18" would be.

The 5400 isn't the loudest out there but no matter what level it generates, any driver generating the exact same output is creating gobs more distortion. And that's the point, that's what it was designed for - low distortion.

lol, the lms ultra is a low q woofer, only fools with insane power on tap and headroom to match and an audiophile eq should even attempt it. The havoc took it simply because the lms was being ran improperly.

Idea enclosure for the lms 5400 is 4.3net @ 25Hz, in sealed, optimum would be 3.4 for an f3 of just over 36hz. Sealing it will give you 4.7dB of loss over the vented enclosure @ 30Hz, and 3.4dB loss at 25Hz, 3dB loss @35Hz...

Very efficient but lower Q than needed to be an authority subsonic, and not have a more than 1dB output deviation across its usable bandwidth. The LMS 4K 10 has a flatter bandwidth and can play much lower than the LMS 5400, just not with ridiculous output.

I was able to log in fine, using Chrome if that helps. I don't know anything about the product at all, just found the info and shared the love. :)

Brother in law has some of their 8’s and they are little beasts. Typical cookie cutter product that performs as it should.

Off the shelf design, nothing special and will sound like a bull horn. The best pro audio drivers I’ve heard are the crossfire XTpro6’s. The best...
