I was just wondering what my options were for reconing this 5200.

Which companies drop in recone would work with this sub? Fi sp4, Tantric SHD, PSI

If you have experience with different reconed 4hps, can you tell me which was best and why?

Thanks again, bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I wouldn't recommend PSI. Sure they'll find a recone that fits your sub, but there's no guarantee the T/S will match what your 5200 used to be.

That's kind of the point of this thread.. I don't want to pick a name out of a hat and hope that's the best option.

I know a lot of people have rebuilt these subs, just wondering if anyone has something to recommend from experience/knowledge.

Its going to be ran off of an mmats 3500.05(2700rms?).. Im sure that makes a difference on recone options as well.

I see the SHD is rated at 5k rms, meaning I probably wont have enough power to push it with that recone.

Is there any other reason not to go with psi?.. any recone that isn't original will make it sound different.

Aside from the fact I don't trust the company based on its roots, I suppose not. And it's not about it sounding different; that sub will no longer be a TC 5200 after it gets reconed from PSI and will most likely devalue it. I would suggest contacting TC for recone options before you go through someone else.

Well the problem I have with the 5200 is the soft parts, from my understanding they just don't hold up and are hard to make a box for.

I would get a hold of zeuslicious when it comes to TC5200. His able to get you the TC spiders wild PSI won't be able to. Soft-part from TC will hold up just stay away from the aluminum cone.

What size? I'm selling 18" top you should check it out build by zeuslicious.

Well if you plan to never resell the sub, go for it. Personally, I wouldn't let anybody recone a 5200 except for TC themselves, soft parts issues aside.

LOL. Yeah, throw a 5000W 50hz sine wave into one and let me know how long before the coil melts down. My money is on under 2 minutes. They may claim that but you will not find anybody to back up a claim like that with a warranty. Any company that is claiming that is either very shady or counting on a very uninformed customer who only cares how big of a number they can have on the package.

A couple guys on this forum have some OEM TC parts. I've also got some hard to find TC parts from Robot Underground in the past. I don't know who you think can magically make a coil hold more heat and you're doing something very wrong if you're bottoming out an 18" woofer on only 3500W.
