ISO 10" SQL Subwoofer for CT Sounds 900.1

Buddy recently purchased a CT Sounds 900.1 and is starting the search for a new 10" subwoofer for small sealed enclosure that will pair well with his new amp. So basically looking for the following:

Up to 900-1000w @ 1 ohm

10" Size

Small Sealed Enclosure

SQL with a little preference towards SQ

Budget under $200

He has looked mainly at the Type R's but knowing how many other companies are in the subwoofer game I thought it be wise to look at other alternatives. However I have not been active in the scene for quite some time and some of the companies are no longer in business. Some of the subs I've looked at:

Dayton HO (Only D4)

Sundown SA10

SSA GCON

FI X

IA Lethal Injection

ID IDQ

Any others he should be considering that would be better than the Type R? Anyone used these as well as the R that can give their opinion on both? I know the new Type R is 2.5" VC so should handle the power but some of the subs listed above have 3".

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Believe me, I saw the IDMAX, but he's just stuck on 10". Enclosure size is a big deal and smaller the better. The GCON looks like a good sub, however its priced above $200 and has a month lead time. Would the DCON's be able to handle the power and sound as good as Type-R?

Edit: Nevermind, the DCON's are Dual 4 only.

How about the Obsidian 10 V3 D2? Think it could handle the power in smaller sealed box? It's only a 2" VC so I'm leaning towards no? Ok so now I'm reading it has a 2.5" VC. Very interesting....

Whatever sub you choose out of those mentioned here will handle a good deal over rated in a small sealed box. I'd run the Sundown sub or, if he can wait till early January, the CT Sounds Stratos will be shipping. They're 600 watts rms and will take well over that with no problem and they're well under his budget.

I put two Audio Technix Strato 10s in a friend's truck on 1200 watts and he's had no problems. They're the same sub except that they had a 400 rms rated coil.

Sounds like power won't be the issue. The question will be SQ.

Also going to have him check out the new SoundQubed HDS310.

He will probably be most interested in the HDS310 and Obsidian 10v3 due to pricing. And since no one has used them extensively it's going to be a crap shoot. Thanks for the information, will show him tomorrow. Anyone else feel free to chime in.

Dcon's are D4 & S4. They are under going a prototyping phase right now for the next gen which we hope to announce soon when it will be back.
