Taramps BASS 5K vs DS18 H-KO5

Well, ask your wife. Is she complaining about the size?

That sub is a 1500 watt RMS sub, any 2K amp should be fine. That Stinger 2K would be my choice unless the size is an issue, comparatively speaker-ing.

If you want to save even more, the DR Rock is a surprising player in that 2K space.

About $20 less than the stinger with Stingers first time 10% email sign up bonus. For $20 bucks I'd likely spring for the stinger but here the two are.

$197 (10% off)

DR Rock $177

The Soundigital EVO 5 is the equivalent of the US model EVOX 2 (which cost twice as amuch) and a great buy at $265. Get this amp and run it at a cool and controlled 4 ohms, puts out 1980 wired to 4 ohms.

3K 2 ohm model - $265 (and it's only 9" x 6.75" by 2")

Thanks for the quick reply, and also for that info on the discount. I am going to get the stinger. She is complaining that I am too old to be doing stuff like this…… I said i dont care and im doing it because it makes me happy.

Just ordered me the 4K myself. Something about the size I guess!

At $404, thing is a beast and puts out around 7K, figured I'd pick one up before it gets a price increase. Stinger makes a decent amp for sure.

No worries, I've got them wired to 4 ohms. Just got to listen to your gear, it will tell you when it's straining. I have them on a Soundigital EVOPS 2400.1 2 Ohm now, it's putting out around 1500 watts at 4 ohms. With the gains set at about 10 db down from clipping, it does fine.

I'll do the same with this one too. ALl about the experience and the learning, real world. Been a while since running anything but full bridge, wanna see if as I expect, little to know difference.

No harm in having a spare 4K around and the price was right!

i just did a bit of reading on full/half bridge. From what I learned is that the korean design half bridge when using better parts they are more efficient and stable. I will probably end up getting another hawk and maybe strap 2 of the 4k stingers if this 2k works out good for me. Im just getting back into things after like 18 years so im trying to go budget to keep my better half happy. My last setup was 4 jl 12w6v3 on 2 crossfire cfa 1000d and fronts were on a 404. i was hitting high 150’s with it at comps. won a lot of trophies because it wasnt a walled off setup.heres a pic. 2001 tahoe.

That's a misnomer and completely untrue. In any amp, you get what you pay for. PowerUS make some amazing full bridge amps just as Crunch makes some really shitty half bridge amps.

If you want to know about the differences, check this out.

AND, since we're on the subject, don't let the price of many of the full bridge amps fool you. Half the components mean lesser cost, most of the time.
Full bridge GaN FET, amps are the way of the future but you can get them now, if you have the money. Check out this little 6"x 12" x 2" 8 channel GaN FET amp from Soundigital with a signal to noise ratio of 114db!

I've listened to it side by side with some of the very best in class "A", class "A/B" and high end class "D" and they are every bit as clean and dynamic and hold their own!

And they're only $1799 while they last!

that thing even looks expensive. yeah im still learning like i said, did you see Gatelys new amp? 15000d,meters at over 25k and the damn power cable friggin tightens and moves when the current goes up. insane amp 27k.

I couldnt find the youtube for it but you might be able to, it was steve meade who tested it.
Yeah, that thing is crazy for sure.

That Soundigital is an amazing example of high end full bridge amplification for sure. Some of the old half bridge HCCA amps were giant killers too.

All kinds of good stuff coming out.
