System Shuts Off When Just Battery is On * HELP *

Alright, so a few months ago I got a place to install a HU and 2 6x9s in my '73 Duster. Well it sounds good and all, but when I just have the battery on, and I hit the brakes, honk the horn, turn lights on, or put the turn siginals on....the system shuts down.

I traced the ground wire, and it seems like it is grounded good. So I am not sure what the problem is. I may take it back to the shop, but before I do I want to see if it is an easy fix I can do myself.

I plan on putting 2 subs and an amp in soon, but I dont think I can with this problem.

Battery isnt too old (2 summers ago) Its an Everstart, and from the battery, I read MAXX-24N is model. And 875, 700 for starting power or w/e

Thanks

might be using to much power.. but why the hell is this a problem???? ho oftain do you listen to music with the car off, lights on, turn signals on and the horn blowing??? why did you even do that in the 1st place?

Im saying if I use either of the horn, brake lights, etc. Sometime it even goes off if the bass hits too hard (hasn't today since I followed the ground and took it off then on again).

Im going to put in my subs and amp soon, I dont know if I should with this problem

ninja - my battery isn't old, got it 2 summers ago. Dont see how its weak?

if you think its bad now, wait til you drop another amp and subs in. You're going to end up cooking all of your electronics due to too low of voltage.

You need a better battery, Big 3 wiring and possibly an higher output alternator

you need to see what kind of charging system a 73 duster has. a lot of older cars don't like big systems...

but it also doesn't sound like you are using any amps or anything...

interesting....

Just tested it out

Put the meter on the battery with the system going loud, and it read about 12V, then I turned the lights on and the HU and music shuts off. Went to the meter and tested it and it was still at 12V

I have no clue what the prob. is...

i still say voltage drop....you need anther person to turn the lights on and shit while you are testing the battery so you can watch the voltage reading as it happens

Yeah I was thinking that too. So the meter should drop when I turn anything on, then go back to 12V when the system shuts off? If so, thats why it read 12V when I turned lights on
