System rebuild (box builders)

So. For specifications for the new home:

3.4Cubes after sub displacment, 3.60 before displacment

Tuned at 30Hz

I want to tune a little lower than I already am used to because I appreciate the low lows more than the more midbass 35Hz+ notes. Or should I just stick to 32 and call it a day? The lows on my current box still hit and feel nice and clean, so I'm sure in a good box they'll sound orgasmic, so maybe staying at 32Hz is a good idea???

Help this dooooood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That amp is "stable" at 1 ohm, that means it won't blow up, but I promise 1 ohm is very inefficient and loses SQ. You are probably far better off keeping it at 2 ohm especially if you haven't upgraded your electrical system.

Box is way too small, port is way too small. If anything you should sell that 15 and get into a good 12 which you may have enough space to do properly.

I have enough room to make the 15 work. Remember I'm selling the sub and the box to my friend, getting the same sub and getting totally new box..I just need input on what the specifications on the box should be so I can hit up a couple designers! And I wouldn't go as far as saying the box is "too" small, its just less than optimal. Its still 3.1 cubes after displacment and the sub still sounds good even on the lows. I'm sorry, but after hearing a 15 in a ****** box, I wouldn't go down to a 12 in a good box, especially since I can put the 15 in a good box. 15 or die :p

IMO 3 cube is too small for a 15 to really work properly particularly if your goal is playing low (though I can't immagine what you're playing that you need 30hz for?).

You run into real issues trying to tune a very small box low with adequate port area. I suspect your friend who built that box you have just used your dimensions and tuning and did the tiny port because that's all the port area you could fit.

You will either need to buy a 12 that will perform well in 3 cube, find a way to get a larger box in there and find a way to get a larger port on there.

-_- I think I have enough room because according to the specifications provided from Obsidian Audio, 3.4cubic feet is well within their specified ported box.

2.5 to 3.75 ft^3
My current box is 3.34Cubes before displacment. And I have a BUNCH of trunk to work with. I can do 3.4cubes after displacment.

Time and time again, people said 3.4 cubes at 32hz will have the sub in just fine. And I have the room for that. That discussions over. I can do it, and I'm going to do it. I'ma hit up my designers now, thanks for all the help caraudio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
