System quit working!

what about the fuses on the amp? Also dos ur hu have an internal or external fuse? Some decks like my eclipse have a fuse on the power wire and some like pioneer have a super small fuse on the main board...
Amp fuses are good, amp internals are un harmed I'm going to wire it right now and see if it protects, then take deck outta dash and check the fuse on that!

delusnl and i just looked at it. and we took the HU fuse out and its good, put it back in to see if that would reset it and it is still in protect mode....

amp isn't fried, we put it in my car and works great.

Try hooking up the HU to direct power (instead of the factory harness) and see what that does. How long did you remove the ground from the battery? Do it for at least 10 minutes.

well lets start with the basics, What head unit are you running?

Taking your HU out and hooking up outside the car is a good idea. Start taking pieces out one by one each time testing your gear. My guess is if your factory alarm is messing up you got an electrical issue with the car itself and not your gear since you took your amp out and it works in someone elses install.

I installed a Kenwood HU in a Honda CRV with the factory harness ect and the deck went into protect due to the security system being tied into the factory harness for the stock HU. We had to get another harness to loop the ground for the factory alarm and after that the deck fired right up and has been working great ever since.

probably shorted a factory relay.. short guess

your power accessory connection long guess ...

defenatly should disconnect the deck and try to get you alarm back 1st .

guessing factory alarm ... more details

My HU is a kenwood DDX 516, and what you said makes alot of sense because my alarm would not arm (beep when doors locked) the last time i locked the car before this happened!! however the doors would still lock and unlock normally. And hitting the panic button still sets off the alarm. Can you give me a little more info on the ground loop for the factory alarm? I think this is my problem.

Only about 15 seconds haha ill go undo the ground for about 15 min right now.

Factory alarm, 05 Nissan Xterra, Kenwood DDX615.

did you hardwire the deck or use the appropriate plug going into the factory harness? remove the deck from the car wire it up directly to the battery just power and ground. press the reset button on the deck. read the manual for where that's at,
