System quit working!

I am going out to check the car here soon and see if I can find out what is wrong but I don't known what to do other than just checking the basic wiring so I figured maybe somebody has encountered this problem and knows what is wrong!

I had some test subs thrown in just for fun but it turns out some wires were crossed so the subs were at the wrong impedance. Turned stereo to about mid volume and realized the subs sounded funny and just before I reached to turn it down/off everything stopped playing! No subs, no speakers, and my HU says protect....

I checked fuses and all are good, I unplugged power and remote from both of my amps (4 channel for speakers and mono for sub) and my HU still stays in protect mode.

My thought is that there is a short in either the remote or the power wire, any thoughts?

My factory alarm will not arm itself either, I can lock and unlock the doors with the keychain but it doesn't honk at me letting me know its locked!

Help!! No music is very lame

Ok, well the fan on the sub amp still runs...I'll open her up n look.

Bhsdriller, I'm not sure...it was wired at 4 ohms but wires were touching!

My HU still powers up and lights up but it just says protect...will eject CDs but will not let me use any functions.

oh shiz i didnt realize that happened, id be willing to bet that you blew the output section of your amp. not sure why the alarm and HU isnt working tho

I unplugged everything from the amps (thinking the HU would work if a problem was an amp) and stillmnothing even after bettery reset.....the only thing plugged into then deck is power and ground, and remote (remote isn't plugged into amps) so My initial thought was a short somewhere in the remote wire maybe?

I'm takin apart the amp right now...if everything looks good I'll go re wire it and see if it is in protect.

Yes....I mentioned that in op
Ground is ran to to the frame it's about as good as it gets
what about the fuses on the amp? Also dos ur hu have an internal or external fuse? Some decks like my eclipse have a fuse on the power wire and some like pioneer have a super small fuse on the main board...
