System not as loud?

So i put my system in the trunk facing the rear, port is on the passenger side of the rear. And its not nearly as loud, i used to have it facing in the cabin..........now its like weird, it sounds deeper, but its not as loud, and it seems louder on the outside... does moving back into the trunk farther help? i could move it back farther a few inches..thx

its all about experimenting....all vehicles are diff.

trunks can be tricky. I've always had the best output with the subs facing toward the cabin with port on passenger side, or subs and port back with a decent amount of room between the subs and the rear of the car.
