I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this issue i am having. I have been doing car audio for several years now and i know quite a bit about how things operate. with that being said, i have currently come across an issue that i have never encountered before.
I have a decent sized system, 2 Memphis MCD4KW Mojos coupled with 2 Memphis Mojo Dual 2Ohm 15s...accompanied by 3 Memphis 4-ch door speaker amps that push 10 Memphis M-Class door speakers...all ran by 2 HO alternators (DC generator 270amp and Ohio gen 240amp)...hooked to 3 Kinetik KHC2000s and a Memphis 1 farad power cap (for filter purposes). All this is stung together by all stinger components (1/0ga wire, 4ga wire, etc...).
I installed all of this myself and after 3-yrs i have had no issues until a week or so ago when i started messing with settings on the amps (or so think).
HERE's the issue:
When I play a particular song, "Black and Yellow", on a certain part of that song my subs...or at least one of my subs start burping as if i had a tone cd in and it doesnt stop until i shut the vehicle off. initially i thought it was one of the 4ks so i started watching them while it played and i noticed that one of the protect lights was blinking very faintly...so i shipped it out for repair. I thought it was all but over, but to my avail the one 4kw that is left still has the issue.
So, why does it do it only on this song (as far as i can tell)?
Rewind:
I started messing with the amp settings before this happened, trying to tune it to the correct Sub-sonic freq and LPF, I also backed the gain down to 3/4. then all of this started to occur.
The one aspect of car audio that i don't understand fully is tuning of the amps, so i did my research and set the settings to what people were recommending and then this big burping noise began to occur.
Anyone ever heard of this?
Note: it only occurs at high volumes.
