System for my girlfriend/Rainbow coax/rear fill debate

Hey all. I've pretty much got her decided on her speakers (6.5" Rainbow SLC comps in the front), but we're back and forth on the rear fill. She's got an 06 Subaru WRX with 5 1/4's mounted low in the rear doors. Her deck is an Alpine 9855, but she's probably going to take my 9835 after I get my Pioneer P880. She will have an amp of some kind, either an Eclipse 4 channel (85x4) if she goes with the rear fill, or a Polk CS300.2 (150x2) for the comps. She's insistent on having rear fill, so I need some suggestions on some 5 1/4 coaxs that will mesh with the SLC's for the back, and/or a stronger argument than I can give for not having them at all. I never hear anything about Rainbow's coax's, but if they're anywhere near as good as everyone says the SLC's are, then she'll probably go with those. Thanks for any feedback!

I'm in the same boat right now. I want to buy the SLC components for the front, but i don't know if i want to go get some coax's for the rear and amp those also. If i decide against the upgraded rear speakers, should the stockers be run off the HU or should i just remove them completely? I'm going for SQ. sorry for the mild thread jack, but its about the same subject hehe.

get the 5 1/4" rainbow coax for the rear and run them off of the head units power....but in all honesty...talk her out it...just a waist of money....i hate rear fill

if you amp the front components, but leave the rear coaxials to run off of headunit power, will the rears start to distort once they get to higher volumes? The fronts will be fine because they are being fed a good amount of power, but the rears aren't receiving nearly as much. Is there going to be a problem doing that if you play it loud alot is what im getting at.

I guess I'm in the market for another interior amplifier then lol. If i'll be fine running the coax's off of the HU, there's no need for a 4 channel amplifier to run 2 SLC components up front.

well... what kind of expansion could I do... upgrade the front components and amp them, upgrade the rear coax's and run them off the HU, i've already got a dedicated amp for the sub. where could i use those 2 unused channels?

I think your all sorta wrong.....

If you run a subwoofer, rear fill is not needed in a small car, just a set of comps

up front and you are golden - yes you can have rear speakers but imo it pulls

the imaging away from your ears

BUT if your not running a sub you definatly want rear speakers

Then I take it back, didnt realize that you already had a sub. A 2 channel will suit ya just fine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If the 4ch amp is the eclipse PA5422 (85x4) you could run it bridged in 2ch mode on the components. Or you could sell it to me if you want to find a 2ch instead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Buy your self somthing & remover the rear doors so she thinks you installed somthing..

it will sound better than what she has now.. dout if she could tell the difrence..

3x Rearfill = waste of $$

Peace Troy
